The ex-missus had been married twice before I took her on. My mates used to call me Richard the Third (without the scoliosis).
Just been in Cross Keys Wetherspoons in Beverley. Titanic Plum Porter 99p a pint. So a pint for me, half for the missus, £1.49p, I haven't paid those prices since the early 70's. Just saying that when in walked an old face from those times. Terry Wood. Terry now lives in Stockholm. He left Hull as a 21 year old with a carrier bag and hitchiked down the A63 with no idea where he would end up. He did end up in London, then France, Spain, Amsterdam and finally Sweden. He is home for a few days visiting a relative who is in Castle Hill. Terry is old school, ex Monte Carlo and Albermarle YC, City fan and he will be there tomorrow night. After a lovely hour reminissing he got up to leave as he had a taxi booked. He then threw a fiver on the table and said get your selves a drink. It brought a tear to my eye as us old school lads used to do that in the early 70's. First a ten bob note, or a pound note, onto a fiver if you were flush. No-one in those day left a table without buying a round, or leaving enough cash for the lads, who were down on their luck, to buy a drink. What a lovely gesture, so I just thought I would put Terry's name out there for those who remember him and to add that some old school principles are still alive and kicking. UTT.
