I don’t, also saying we ( should ) of beaten Fulham doesn’t really help your argument mate.

A club of our history, support and facilities should be in and around a top 10 PL club so aiming for Europe and winning domestic trophies.

Following a model of buying and selling players regularly wont get us there, tbh. It does and will need pretty substantial capital investment over and above this, and as long our recruitment is decent - can see no reason why we cant achieve 'where we should be'.

40k gates and sold out away games are not accepting mid table Champ/possibly play offs

Our off the pitch commercials such as only 1 club shop at the stadium does nothing for our profile also.

Just shows we can complete if we have a couple of quality additions might make the difference.
However we can predict how we think we will get on, let's hope its long before we can see for ourselves

I was but I'm now genuinely fearful that a vocal, entitled faction of our fans are potentially going to jeopardise it and run KLD out of town in search of a quick 'fix'.

I feel the same, the only way we will be succesful is by going the way we are. Yes there will be bumps in the road but folk saying we shouldnt be selling our best players etc - all clubs do

Look at West ham this season, sold by far n away their best player in Rice but used that money to sign JWP Alvarez Emerson Kudus - so improved the overal team

Every club is a selling club apart from arguably real madrid n Barca, the key is recruitment and what we do when we do sell good players

I dont want a rich owner to come in and bankroll us, a lot more teams fail with that model than actually succeed. I dont want anyone to mortgage the future of my club for short term success - which seems some supporters want us to do

I want us to be a club known for giving youngsters a chance, a team that plays good football and plays in front of huge crowds every week.

The PL is overrated, i want us to compete in the PL when we are ready but ill just enjoy the journey until then

We have to be in the premier league or eventually all the things that make us a big club become milestones around our neck

We’d get absolutely bullied in the PL even with those 2 in the squad. We aren’t good enough technically or physically at the minute. We were about 30 points behind Burnley last season…

My worries about the future of football is when this European super gets going and the so called big 6 + maybe 1 more through an invite and sky will pull the plug on the big money for what remains of the premiership and we’ll see less on offer which in turn effects all of the over spenders and we see a lot of clubs going to the wall

I'd be happy if sky pulled out and we returned to how our leagues used to be. There'll always be those at the top but the gap wouldn't be as wide. Clubs would have to start being sensible and not risk going under with the temptation of that pot of gold which is the PL atm.

I just had a look at Brentford and the year they got promoted to the Premier League their wages to turnover was 270%

Thats one hell of a gamble to get promoted

Just read that Kompany reckons it's taken Burnley until Christmas to match the Premiership clubs pace. Like we saw against the skunks, we were a second in the head and a yard slower than them. It's not surmountable, gain promotion and struggle, but there is a chance over a season of 4th bottom or higher. Then try and better season on season. Otherwise, Speakman will be out of a job in 2 seasons and our best players may have lost faith and moved on. It will be interesting to see how Burnley do this second half of the season.

Achievement to me is year on year progression. Which since KLD/Speakman have came in we have achieved.

I think because of Ipswich having a great season people forget how incredibly well we have done to be challenging for promotion in both seasons in the championship straight out of league one, look at how the clubs who finished above us in the promotion season are currently doing.

I would just like the wider fanbase to calm down about the on field situation, the club will not get everything right that is physically impossible but they surely have major credit in the bank and deserve to be trusted whatever they decide to do. Every story about a player being linked away or a potential signing going to another club doesn't need to be met with accusations of penny pinching or incompetence. We are travelling a different path to most clubs and we just need to have patience and enjoy the ride.

Good post mate. I agree with most of what you have said, especially the part about selling your best players. West Ham certainly spent the Rice money effectively…

With any elite sport the ambition should be to win trophies, surely? I think that has to be our long term ambition personally. How long term that ambition is is a big question.

We should also have shorter term ambitions. Making the play offs to me has to be an ambition this season. Promotion the challenging ambition, but play offs the minimum one. Of course other clubs are the same but I see no real value in setting the bar lower.

Achievements are linked to ambition. If we win promotion great, the championship trophy brilliant. Then can we win a cup, qualify for Europe, and so on.

Achievements can be other things too in my opinion. How many players from out academy are in our first team squad, how many in the first team, how many playing for other clubs at a higher standard etc. There are other non-football achievements too, such as community engagement.

I appreciate all if this is set against the backdrop of mega rich clubs dominating. But we have to strive to find a way. If we dont aim to win things I am not sure what the point is anymore. Participation is ok, and you get some entertainment and good days out, but competition is more than that to me.

i want our owners to find 'the secret' which will allow them to overspend, have debt coming out of their earholes yet still escape punishment for constantly breaking the rules that others have to adhere to.

when this premier idea started forming along with sky domination of it i said at some point football will eat itself, we can basically see it now, the 'top six' do not want to become a 'top ten', supposed careful vetting of new owners plus the FFP rules were dragged in to stop any more man city type take overs but it is getting worse, the bigger teams in europe want an almost exclusive league and i gaurantee they will demand euro placings...they want it all and as long as the FA/FIFA/EUFA etc lot are willing to sell their souls for dirty money it will happen.

i am sick of hearing talk of the premier league winners in december, i want to see all teams in with a chance and bring some excitement back into the game.

Winning trophies does have to be the ultimate aim. I said earlier that the ambition has to be finding a different way to run a football club but that has to lead winning things. Winning trophies against clubs run by nation states without having gone down that route ourselves will be so much sweeter. That being said, I'd rather win something occasionally than buy a trophy every year.
