I agree. Playing for a bunch of murderous tyrants is bad enough, but there are levels to which a man just cannot stoop.
milner made a telling comment about certain kid who he didn't name par se but everyone knows it was Jones. he said he would talk to the lad and tell him what's that and how to do thing and it was like in one esr out the other didn't register. it seems that like some other people (salah, vvd) Jones has cottoned onto what a pro is about. it just goes to show about writing off kids at times. they can change and grow up. most do not but I doubt every senior pro was a great pro at 20.
Definitely some bloom later than others. Curtis, 21 when he really started to shine isn't an especially late bloomer either... even if some already look the part at 19.
I listened to Curtis on one of those - surprising locals with tickets to Anfield/Christmas gifts - videos that the club puts out and he really comes across well compared to a few years ago when he struggled to speak in public. I'd say he's got a really nice personality and has matured from the almost scared of his own shadow youngster that didn't look like he was ready for the first team. Just looking at the two scousers, him and Trent, he comes across far better than Trent in that he has a more open nature, while Trent sometimes comes across as a 'who are you looking at' type
Whereas Curtis has had to work very hard to get to where he is with the team, Trent sometimes comes across as I know how good as I am, and don’t you forget it.
The conor bradley memes amused me https://tribuna.com/en/news/liverpo...l-fans-react-to-bradley-pocketing-martinelli/
When you're young and talented It's all about handling your ego. I wouldn't say Trent is overtly arrogant but he too is maturing from the youngster that some underestimated to the new senior role of vice captain. The haircut helped..
oh yeah, he's known he's good and has not been afraid to show it right the way up the chain. the only thing I've been a little surprised is he's not even attempted to take a free kick as senior level.
I haven't followed his career so I'm only going on what I have seen. If you've watched his progression from the academy then you will have different information. I saw his first senior interview, he had a stutter that he's overcome and gone from playing within himself to taking more control and more risks. He never looked to me like a player who had confidence in his own ability which is surely what those who are cocky have in bucket loads.
yeah but you don't knock in goals like the fa cup v Everton or hog the ball like he can do if you are not cock sure. if you compare him to say Chambers in the europa you can see a player playing with a bit of fear/nerves.
You can't compare Chambers in the EL to today's Curtis. You have to compare Curtis at the same stage as Chambers and for me, it was very similar. I remember saying on here ages ago when he got a few games for the first team that he plays like he's saying 'after you' on every encounter; very dithery and would just give the ball up. I didn't see much confidence.
I've always been afraid of Trent getting carried away by his own reputation. That's not to say I don't think he deserves the rep, just that I don't like to see it go to a player's head.
