I think they did all right tbh., they were not over run as some on here suggest, we were far too open as a team and some individuals suffered more than others, it was no fault of the players, our best player on the day was sadly responsible for two of their goals , the 2nd goal was an accident that has been waiting to happen for weeks apart from that we were as good as can be expected for all the reasons that have been given. No need for any individual to start doubting themselves, they all did what they could under the given circumstances, OaU

****n gutted....that was my fear, they young players freezing & they did, dont think they were owt flash, Bruno & joelinton kinda won it in middle of park for them. An own goal, bad mistake & daft pen the goals, we kinda created our own problems

We move on & i quite like Beales interview....lets move forward

I think the telling thing for us as fans & speaks volumes for our support....as it is support, nobody boo'd to them, those who stayed at the end clapped their efforts....i feared this could knock their heads in a little, hopefully fans reaction & Beales attitude to starting Monday we have 20 games lifts us & spurs us on

This derby came to early in the growth for these young players unfortunately

Brilliant post. Honestly think it’d have ended 0-0 without those gifts! They didn’t look like creating for themselves at all. Don’t remember Patterson having a save to make except Trippier’s back passed free kick.

I’ll certainly take the positives. If we pushed higher, it leaves more space. Whether you like Bruno or not (I detest him), he’s a quality footballer. Not sure he gave the ball away. The gulf in class and cost was clear everywhere but the final third! Neither team created much at all. And they were no way 3 goals better than us.

what pisses me off with our fans, is those who left early. The boys put a shift in against a much better side. Deserved clapping from the field. Yet we gave those fans who think “**** it I’m going home” even saw a kid trying to convince his responsibile adult to stay till the end!

Which (as Burnley and Sheff Utd fans would testify) makes for a very uncomfortable season when you aren't good enough for the PL

If you're not being paid by the club I think you say...we were up for it in the first half, but barely had a shot, they were much better than we're used to...our most important players didn't really turn up... Bellingham dire, Clarke anonymous, Hume not good, Ekwah worst ever game, Pritch more or less ineffective(others disagree but I thought he was poor). We could not have expected to win, but we did not do ourselves justice and that's a real shame. Regardless of the opposition... we didn't play well at all.

I think TM hit a bit of a brick wall with his tactics from last season couldn't move it forward. However I've noticed a distinct slowing down in the play since Beale has come in. More worryingly a lack of movement and urgency. Hopefully this is not his tactics but just the players getting used to the changes. Time will tell but unless the wheels completely come off he needs time to implement stuff. Russell Martin was under pressure at Southampton but stuck to his plan and has turned it around. Nagging worry I have with Beale is the issues with his slow dull play are just what he did at Rangers

Well, I think Isak has a tap-in if Ballard doesn't get there first. They looked dangerous in 1st half, less so in 2nd half but yeah we handed them the 2nd and 3rd goals

Just in from the game and gutted with the result.

Our game plan was pretty obvious to me, contain them until the hour mark and then start the high press and try to nick a result. They struggled to play through our two banks of four and when they tried to go over the top they ran out of pitch. The problem with that is the second goal destroyed us and the game plan went out of the window.

Tactically Beale needed to find a way to get an extra man in midfield to match their numbers and to help Hume on the right.

I hate to say it but they were the better side and the gulf in quality was obvious, having said that, it was individual errors that done us and hopefully a bit of a reality check will serve us well for the rest of the season.

I would never dig these players out and if we want to realise our ambitions we need to get right behind them in the coming months.

    Ha'way the lads

I agree mate its a dilemma , the clubs benefit in the short term, not the fans from promotion, deserved or not its how it is.

Big gulf in class but that 2nd goal was a total fk up and the game was gone from that moment.
Havent heard Beales interview but lack of subs seemed strange.
Good to meet up with a few from here tho albeit for just a short time.

I can't imagine much training could've been done over Xmas except for game specific so hopefully see some more changes in the coming weeks. I don't know what his football was like at rangers but from someone who was big on futsal I was expecting fast paced, one and two touch football. I think we need that to get the best out of a young energetic squad, rather than a slow possession based play

reet, have read a couple of pages and skipping past the rest.

i am not blaming any of our players or the coaches, this was just one of those mis-matched games and had we somehow won it would have been massive headlines everywhere.

we showed what i certainly expected, a very young side showing that lack of experience but towards the end we did have a couple of 'goes' at them and they were none to great themselves so i honestly feel if we had got at them more often it would have been a far better game and most likely closer and no, i do not think we would have won...they obviously have better players and experience.

i can guarantee hume will watch that back and wonder wtf he was doing going to ground, the lad is a hell of a player but like the rest, we have just gotten used to watching them week after week and doing well...they are still young and learning and this was a big curve for them.

the recruitment team will have an idea of what they need, beale will most likely have some say so let's hope they get it right and give us a nice end to the season because we all know these lads CAN play.

Rangers supporting Scottish lad at work said the football was "****e" when I was talking to him last week. Just passing on what I've been told. He'll get the 10 games from me before passing judgment, 10 games is enough to see what differences have been made or at least so we can see what the idea is.

Beale deserves time. Its clear hes trying to make us more.solid and harder.to score against which is what most managers do when they come to.club. Does he energise me and fill me confidence? Not really.
