kelleher is only given the league cup, last season alisson played the fa cup. this one is 6 days away so we can make some plans to rest players etc. it's also away and we don't need a ****ing thumping. quansah and Elliott ro start?
Yeah we don't have another league game for 3 weeks, so just this and Fulham in the next 20 days - I'd expect us virtually full strength
I've said quad and I want us to win every game, but genuinely not bothered about this one. Sure, the fixture list isn't too bad around this game but progress in this competition and it'll become demanding later on
Not konate though? the league cup is 3 days after? Its hard to know. a bit of a toss up between the two for each game. How about kelleher Trent Quansah VVD gomez elliott Macallister gravenberch Jota Nunez Diaz I'm not really sure at this point in time what full strength actually is given szobo might be injured.
Same. I obviously want to win, and think we should make a genuine effort to win... But if we had to lose one fixture in January, this is the one I'd pick. Obviously though, a win here is more than progressing to the next round in the cup, it could be a psychological win over Arsenal that hampers them in the league too. (Or who knows... Could have opposite impact).
the only reason to care where arsenal finish is just in case city get thrown out and the titles pass down one. we will either win it or not. 2nd or 3rd or 4th doesn't matter at this point. That arsenal side is not winning this tile over city. not a chance. If city fall away form whatever reason then its villa v LFC and a MASSIVE game on the penultimate day.
Premier League doesn't have the balls to strip titles! Infact, they're considering changing all legal contracts to say "foot" instead of "football" they're that ball-less. FC within the premiere league is soon going to change to mean Foot Club. Anyhow, that aside. Yes. City is the one to watch, they can't stay this unreliable all season. I expect them to start a winning streak that will last the rest of the season soon. Arsenal could still pip us though too. I'm not writing them off. If City implode, they have as much chance at the title as us.
I agree. too many just OK players at the back and the kids lack a leader raya, not great so far. I don't rate white and I certainly don't rate Gabriel. rice is on his own in midfield.
yeah, thats about it. be gotnvvd and went to the cl final but obviously had the forwards already. we added alisson and that was that.
Raya I accept, but I'm surprised you don't rate White and Gabriel. Both have been consistent players for us over the last 2 years. Obviously I appreciate they've not been amazing in recent weeks (White's been playing too much and is reportedly playing through injury due to our lack of depth at RB), but they're usually dependable players in our team. Anyway, as for the game this Sunday, not particularly confident. After the last 2 results and performances, it won't matter what team you field, we'll lose to anyone playing like that. The game has taken on more importance for us considering we're (most likely IMO) out of the title race, and Arteta's diabolical record in the cup competitions since winning the FA Cup in 2020. So he'll be under pressure to go far here. That said, I'm not seeing enough from the manager or the players that makes me believe we're going to dispatch an in-form, motivated Liverpool side - even if they are without Salah or Endo. I suppose we'll see. Cup competitions can sometimes produce upsets....
