Endo gets better each game - we'll miss him next month. And we're getting ever more and more fans in the Far East (hence why we're always No1 pick for the 12.30 Saturday slot, unfortunately). But the Japs, Koreans, and Chinese are fanatical to a degree that's hard for us to comprehend, and, cynically perhaps, they spend shed loads of money. A visit to Liverpool combines another of their passions - The Beatles. Good for business, good for support, and ****ing good for us. Us, United, and Arsenal - the three global superpowers of the most globally watched league in the world - no wonder Real and Barca are so keen to upend it.
When will Liverpool learn to stop giving Salah penalties. Surely the welfare of the club should beat the ego of the individual in those circumstances. Obviously love Salah, but he shouldn't be taking penalties
So. Last goal. Surely that either wasn't a foul OR a red card? I thought the rule was, commit a foul blocking an obvious goal it's a red. I'm not sure it was a foul, but if it was, shouldn't it have been a red (as terribly harsh as that would have been )?
I’ve often complained that we don’t get given pens because we don’t go down with contact. So no complaints from me; take it out of their hands, do down and let VAR see the contact - a very modern penalty but a penalty nonetheless. More of the same please boys.
Not completely sold on taking him off them personally, he is in the top 10 in the world currently when it comes to conversion rates, so it's not like he is piss poor.
Not if it’s a genuine attempt to get the ball which as a keeper trying to save it would automatically make it an attempt to get the ball
You figure out a way of reading the players mind and maybe you'll have a point. If it's not evidently obvious, they've got to be given the benefit of doubt that they're going for the ball rather than being a ****
Re: the second penalty, because Taylor gives it on the field, VAR are never going to overrule their man. If he doesn't give it, I do not see VAR giving it for same reason. There was an incident against Arsenal where Saka skips past Allison, receives some contact but because Saka (yes, swan-diving Saka) stays on his feet, he doesn't force the issue. If he went down, it would have been given and as annoying as it is, that is the state of the game today
if a player sticks a hand out and stops the ball on the line its a red, but if a keeper takes a player out like Pickford did to vvd then it should be a red.
Watching the Jota penalty incident back, it's a strange one. He's rounded the keeper, open goal ready to slot into and falls over. There was contact but it looked like not enough to put him off balance, he doesn't kick the turf or fall over his own feet and with an open goal begging, he goes down. The only explanation is that the contact was enough to make him do one of those stuttering, falling down steps that ends either in a fall or a recovery. Simulation in this situation, makes no sense.
A couple of things after watching the highlights again.....Trents outrageous attempt with the outside of the right foot that hit the upright Reminiscent of a Roberto Carlos goal for RM some years back. And I know Diogo is decent in the air but......can we not leave him facing a giant CB on corners ffs Still buzzing from that performance. .
How does what? Thats the rule. If you make an attempt to get the ball it’s not a red card. It’s been that way for last 2/3 years to stop the double jeopardy rule or giving away a pen and getting red card for genuine attempt. Goalkeepers diving at someone’s feet it always going to be to try and get the ball. Same as a player trying a slide tackle or somethjng. only time would be a red is if it’s a shirt tug or a trip from behind where clear attempt to not get the ball
I can see where you're coming from here, as if it's clear in the keepers mind that the ball is out of reach, it's in his best interest every time to take the player, yellow card and a chance to stop that goal
