I’d disagree on Broadhead not being considered as a first team starter. Yes, he’s had a few sub-par performances lately, but I think he’ll get back to his best. I think he just needed/needs a rest. Harness is a squad player. I’ve been harsh on him in the past, but I think he’s stepped up with some key goals and assists so far this season. We definitely need a couple of centre-forwards though. Scarlett has been sent back to Spurs, which is fair enough. He’s not done nearly enough in his limited appearances for us. I really don’t rate Jackson. He’s fast, but we’re up against quicker defenders now and he’s not got an end product to his game. Ladapo is fine as a squad player for now, but I don’t think he’s near the quality required for a promotion-chasing team. And surely he’d be sold off if we are a Premier League side next season.
When he is fit and well rested, Broadie will I am sure start. But he has lost his touch and been out of sorts for a month now.
Ladapo not good enough for championship Jackson not even good enough for league 1 imo Scarlett recalled Hirst is now fooked We need 3 strikers in asafp
Call me a hypocrite for presuming to suggest a "Plan B",but how about foregoing an out-and-out striker altogether?A back three of Tuanzebe,Woolfy and Burgess,Burns and Davis as wingbacks,Morsy and Luongo CM and a front three of Broadhead,Chaplin and Hutchinson. The team would still have plenty of goals in it and we'd tighten up our leaky defence.
I'm liking that Bigal...I mentioned on another post about going 5 at the back. Think it will suit us as we like to play about up front. If those three can connect, and bring on burns and leif on attacks, then it could be fruitful
Apparently Morsy has told the Egyptian FA he’s unavailable for selection for the AFCON tournament. Massive boost for us if he stays home.
I also like this, especially employing Hutch. However, if we had had an out n out strong, powerful bully of a striker, we would have nailed some of the great crosses Burns & Davis pinged over.
I posted in the the QPR match thread that I hoped our Transfer plans have kept up with the reality of our progress and I really don't envy those involved. I don't suspect we were planning to be needing Premier League level players in this window. I'd have presumed we'd have been tracking established Championship players. No criticism of any individual player but reinforcements across the whole pitch are required if we're planning painting a promotion push and not needing an entire rebuild in the summer.
After four games in a ridiculous festive ten days and with injuries to Hirst and Davis and a sickness bug, I am amazed that we've still only lost 3 out of 26. We know what a tough, competitive league this is, and how unfair the Prem relegation funding is. It has highlighted once again our weaknesses and who we need to bring in next few days to help us push on.However, we've got through a very difficult period and we're still 2nd with all to play for, so lets continue to enjoy the ride, and the FA Cup tho imo that pales compared to promotion. Two years ago we were struggling to string some wins together to try and sneak 6th place in League One!
Jeremy Sarmiento - on loan from Brighton (currently on loan at WBA) is expected to sign imminently. 21 yr old Ecuador international wide man, looks to be a step up from Scarlett. I'll be happy with this if we can sign a couple more forwards and CB's
