Changing subject quickly but I can't believe I forgot Armstrong's long distance lob attempt early on. Cracking effort that and defo had their keeper worried for a second or two.
Yeah I'm a little nervous about Norwich. I think they've got most of their players back from injury now (albeit some were only on the bench tonight), and their home form is decent (if you ignore late October/early November, which I think is when their injury crises was at its worst).
Agreed we lost our fast outlet on the right side which meant more pissing about passing. I get bringing stephens on for minutes but not at the expense of our quick wing back. Only would male sense if they were targeting kwp with high balls which they weren't as they barely had the ball.
We were complacent I felt. Hopefully we learn a lesson. On Baz, I thought Stephens pass back was a **** one. A bouncing spinning pass so he had to take a touch. Should have just ploughed it forward after the touch though. Most of the team played well, just need to stay switched on. On the Plymouth offside goal. Should have been given, but would like to see if their winger was onside when he got the ball over the top.
About Baz's howler.....the team have been trained to fanny around passing backwards to Baz, Jack had other options not to pas the ball backwards. It basically achieves what the other team have been trying to do albeit the defenders have possession. Over the season it's going to go wrong on a few occasions, this was one. Fraser used to have his problems with it. Injury time row Z every time for me.
I'm not terribly worried by Baz's howler. It didn't matter to the end result, and he'll have learned a lesson. Agree that Jack's pass back to him wasn't the kindest as well, but as Milton says, these things will happen on occasion with our style, but it will have knocked any complacency away - he'll be gutted not to have another clean sheet.
As much as I want us to beat the club record, it's almost an unnecessary distraction. It is helping motivate us but when we get very close, mentally it adds an additional challenge e.g. JWP and Becks' free kick record.
I’m not sure I agree since we want to keep winning anyway. It’s the point of the game. The free kick thing is a little different as it might have lead to shots when shots shouldn’t have been taken. But trying to maintain a record of staying unbeaten when it’s precisely what we want to achieve ?
Good point on the free kick record. I think breaking records do add an additional barrier though. But hopefully outweighed by the added incentive in the run up to get close to it and then break it. I'm confident we won't be Saintsy on this one and will smash it.
Not only the disappointment of a wrong decision.....but also the double whammy of the Referee allowing a quick free kick....whilst Argyle players where the wrong end of the pitch having been celebrating a legitimate goal. Plus a few weeks back losing to a ball that was clearly behind for a goal kick...being crossed for a winning goal......you do feel at times that the football gods have got it in for Argyle.
Not that it makes it right, but this is our first sustained period of anything resembling luck in years, so you’ll probably get it back at some point down the line.
I thought your away support was really impressive yesterday Filling the away end for a televised game and making a lot of noise
We rather thought the game was won at 2-0 and all their subs added intensity to their play We win and we learn
That’s exactly what I said when I saw the first replay! Never offside from the cross into the box, but it did look like the winger was off when it was played to him. Would like to have seen that angle again.
We’ll get one going against us at some point, but at least the decisions are instant, right or wrong No VAR
RM clearly wants us to play them … “Carlos’s goal was fantastic and Ché’s goal was fantastic too, Taylor [Harwood-Bellis] played that pass a lot tonight and Janny [Bednarek] played one to Will [Smallbone]. I really liked that tonight, we risked the ball a lot and we tried to penetrate a lot from distance” Clearly Russball is not only about endless short passes
