Delap (by a distance) Morton Slater (for doing an admirable job being asked to play out of position and wrong footed. Bit like Coyle previously. Hope to hell it's fixed soon (LB position, not his foot) as we miss out so much having a 'square peg in a round hole' week after week in that position. Great to get the needed win, but I didn't think it was a good performance. The mood would be quite different if we hadn't grabbed that 3rd. Great finishes by Delap & Connolly. All game we really didn't keep possession well at all. It never felt comfortable, as others have said even when they went down to 10 men. But as with the Boro game, we got the result. Hopefully, with Wednesday up next, we kick on, and then get at least 2 or 3 more through the door who can hit the ground running and improve us (edit: and stay fit!).
Jones ... Top performance, and the winning goal. Delap ... What a goal. Run em ragged in the 1st half. Coyle ... Captain's performance Mr reliable. Tufan, Slater good games too, Seri had a better game.
Delap.....ran his heart out for the cause, great goal. Jones....solid as a rock Tufan.....burst a gut to close em down. Looked dangerous at times...How their chopper stayed on after that scissor tackle. Dirty bar steward. Honourables for Coyle, Greaves, Slates, Morton, Connolly.
Delap. As good a centre forward as this club has seen for a long time. Tufan. Four yellow and one red card issued for fouls on him. He was superb last night and obviously signalled out by Blackburn as the player to stop. Morton. This lad has a big future. He would be a major signing him if we could get him on a permanent. ... Every other player deserves a mention in despatches too, especially Lewie Coyle, who for some unknown reason attracts some ridiculous negative comments from knobheads. ... Enjoyed that one, good entertaining proper Championship stuff on a cold wintery Friday night, how anyone can moan after that is beyond me. But they do, have a chufftie at the City forums on facebook. Exceptional crowd too, over 21,000 for a Friday night between Christmas and New Year. I have a feeling some people are forgetting how far we have come. even in the so called glory days of Boothferry Park, 70/71 for example, Terry Neill, Wagstaff and Chilton etc etc etc, we used to boast about getting an average crowd of 21,000. Now it's taken for granted. These are good times and it's about time more fans realised it.
Delap - we definitely need to keep him, he causes complete carnage! Jones - Made up for his and Greaves error for their first by grabbing the winner. Coyle - I’m ignoring his assist for their second due to his all round all action never say die lion heart performance!
Delap - Great solo goal and had them worried all night Coyle - Captains performance again Jones - for the winner
Have to agree with this post completely, including the top three and the reasons for choosing them. Excellent post!
