Heart set on a point...

  1. I've personally got my heart set on a point at Manure now. I've tried to slap my self in the face and say "wake up brah", but it's not working.

I just feel with Manure's shakey defending recently, that we could snatch a point, and we defend well enough.

If you think about it, 2 of Man City's goals were due to the sort of defensive issues that we don't normally have to deal with. One was when Saylor was off the pitch, one was Raylor having a "wtf is going on" moment. Their first goal was arguably a mistake as well, but I'd say it was going in anyway.

Apart from those ****ty 4-5 mins at the end of the first half, and that moment where Saylor was off the pitch, we defended very well and kept City out. City didn't really score any goals due to their quality, we gifted them 3, which is unlike us.

I doubt we'll keep Man Utd from scoring. Even if they're playing ****, they'll still find a goal somewhere within their squad. I'd like to see Ba or Ben Arfa up against Ferdinand.

I'm going for a 1-1 draw, and I have my heart set on it now.

    Anyone else?

I'm not expecting anything from the game but on the other hand I won't be surprised if we managed a draw. The only surprising result for me would be a win. Just can't make myself believe it could happen.

A win would be stunning, a draw would be very pleasing but I'm still not expecting to win this game and still won't be terrified or upset if we lose. I can only be pleasantly surprised really.

When I looked at the run of Man City, Man Utd, and Chelsea, I thought that we might get one point and this would be from the Chelsea match.
Although Man Utd don't seem to be at their best, they are still capable of destroying teams, especially at home, so getting a point would be a great achievement, but like many have said before, these are not the games that will define our season, the following matches against Norwich, Swansea, WBA and Bolton are more important. I always think that getting any points out of the top 4 is a bonus.

You never see Tash and Ranger in the same room. Has anyone else noticed that?

I think the best we can get is a draw but my head says we'll lose against Man Utd.

The best chance of a point is Chelsea.

By their 'shakey defending' you mean five clean sheets in a row?

Just realised I've never seen you or Mike Ashley in the same room either... :bandit:

TBH Tash, I also think we may snatch a point, but it depends if Tiote's back. Otherwise, Rooney will wreck havoc in the hole.

  11. That was nothing to do with their defending, it was due to the opposition missing sitters.

Did you see the highlights from their game at Swansea? Graham missed a 3 yard open goal.

I know that's not Manure's fault if the opposition doesn't take their chances, but the goals are there to be scored.

Norwich should have been 2/3-0 up by half time at old trafford but they missed so many sitters it's unbelievable.

They did still concede quite a few chances in each of those last 5 matches, especially Norwich at home. They still have a very good defence but just not the standards of the old Manchester United.

<laugh><doh> So Man Yoo keep 5 clean sheets in a row and it's pure luck? But I bet when pundits were calling our run lucky you were bitching about it. Double standards much? <ok>

We will do very well to get a point.

We will probably lose 4-0 to a stupid early penalty or red card. Don't get your hopes up.

  16. Never said it was luck did I? Read the comment again.

I'm just saying you should also look at the chances other teams have had against them, that haven't been taken.

I'm not saying they've been lucky at all, because it's not your fault if the other team doesn't take their chances, I'm just saying if Manure give away those sorts of chances, a team with quality up front could embarrass them...

    *Coughs* 1-6 *coughs*

At the end of the day It's all about taking chances, and the teams that have been facing Manure recently have lacked quality in the box and failed to score goals.

As I said I wont be gutted if we lose, Manure are still a very good team, but the goals are there to be scored against them at the moment.

Sorry to say I think we'll lose this fixture, however maybe life begins at 40? It's 39 attempts and no win.

Whichever way people choose to look at this, Man U are a top class side, one of the top 2 in our league, and top 5 in Europe. They have defended very well over the last 5 games since Citeh. That is both individually and collectively. I've watched all 5 games and there has hardly been a sniff for the opposition. Swansea created very little aside from the Sinclair chance, Sunderland **** all bar a couple of half chances, Everton battered them but couldn't get in their box, and Aldershot and the Romanian side created very little. They are defending superbly well since City, but if you watch the matches, its come at a price. They have been turgid to watch of late.

So whereas they are not the attacking threat they were earlier in the season, rather than goals being there for the taking, its the opposite with goals and chances being at a premium
