If the next at Leopardstown wasn't a Pertemps qualifier you'd expect Foxy Jacks to hose up - 24lbs below his chase rating. Anyone fancy a tenderly ridden fourth?
It is absolutely incredible nowadays isn't it. You don't have to go back to far in years when having an even money shot in one of the races over the 3 days was even a big deal. Bookies have it sewn up.
Jokingly said similar to a friend of mine through a text after he remarked how good that performance was. It would be slightly funny if he did manage to topple all of then with Hewick in the race wouldn't It. I personally can't see it. If Shiskin gets there 100% and gets in a rhythm he might give GDC a race, I wouldn't discount BMG either now if he gets a rest and back on Spring ground. Plenty will change between here and then.
Any thoughts on that side of the Irish Sea on whether GDC is better on softer ground and maybe less effective on good?
It would probably be safe to say he would prefer soft ground, it does tend to lend to more suitbale going for that type of distance to allow them to gallop and jump safely and he seems to like it. He has won at Cheltenham on good so he really seems versatile regarding the going. The only thing the panel on RTE (local tv) were debating was if he really liked it around Punchestown ( 2 defeats there ), although he also won once there. Like Pilgrim mentioned above there too, it would be foolish to rule Fastorslow out of the picture at this stage but you would feel if GDC reproduces that effort or anywhere close to it he will be winning another GC.
My thoughts exactly. In fact the 2 defeats at Punchestown were at the hands (or hooves) of Fastorslow. Once over 2m3½f Sft and once over 3m Y both times at level weights. Although the form of the former is suspect with Appreciate It splitting them; and that was after a 214 day break by GDC. Appreciate It finished 41¼l behind GDC yesterday
