I’m all for it because I think he’d still be decent at this level and would not only bring much needed experience in the exact role we’re crying out for someone but I think he’ll really help our younger players and he’s a leader on the pitch.

Match fitness would potentially be an issue but something else I don’t think people would be prepared for is that there’s a good chance that 2 of Neil, Ekwah or Bellingham don’t get on the pitch if he was to go into the Xl.

I think he’s one of those players that’s clever enough to not need the legs he had 10 years ago when he’s playing at this level and we have a team of grafters around him so his age wouldn’t deter me. 34 at the start of next season but if he can show his class then what’s stopping him having another year. Morsy, Seri, Howson all been decent this season of a similar age.

Just out of interest who should we be looking at for that role in your opinion? Always appreciate your input in the transfer window

No from me on Mvilla. He has been available since July so cant see us being remotely interested. 6 months out at his age will take some effort to get up to speed in this league. I was dead against Defoe for coming in, for the same reasons, and we all saw how poor he was.

Is there anyone else for that position you have been looking at mate? Any rough diamonds we could look at getting in.

It’s a tricky one because Olympiacos didn’t renew his contract but he played pretty much every game for them last season including all of their European games (albeit a poor showing of themselves) but as mentioned the Greek league is nowhere near as intense as the championship.

I think not renewing his contract was simply down to freeing up wages for more transfers this season after signing some ridiculous free transfers ie James Rodriguez. They’ve loaned Podence and Solbakken who won’t be on peanuts. Their owner is the owner of Nottingham Forest and if you think their transfers are wild you want to check how many players come and go at olympiacos :emoticon-0102-bigsm

The only team he'd sign for not in the top flight. Imagine how he could help Ekwah and Neil develop further. Granted its unlikely we'd sign him cause of his age (33) as don't think our board appreciate the value of having senior players in the squad.

Says he wants to help us gain promotion, not interested in money, feels he can help both on and off the pitch.

Can't deny the bloke still gives me goosebumps. Would be amazing to have him back. Can't see it happening though

I would like to see the club bring in a player or two from clubs already in this league. Players that will be ready quickly to make an impact on the starting 11. I have said before I have been impressed with Randell at Plymouth, and indeed Hardie. Whether their mgr situation makes it harder to do a deal I dont know. Randell would be a good way to invest some of the Stewart money for me. Hardie might be a bit on the pricey side you might think. Young lad at Brum making a big impact is Jordan James, again might cost a few quid, but hoping he is on our radar.

You got any opinion on Benes who plays for Hamburg?

Seen him few times for them and looked quality and lays that role.

Plays for Slovenia or Slovakia as well can’t recall which.

Be an easy nab and he’s a good age based on 4-5 times seen him.

Bit of a mix but more on the defensive side the games I’d seen, decent passing range.

Cant say watched extensively mind but he’s looked a level or 3 above when seen him.
