Be some going If they get racing here tomorrow, can't recall last time we've had such winds and the thunder and lightning going for a good while now too bringing large amounts of heavy rain and that is set to continue on into tomorrow. Off to batten down the hatches and sup a few pints of the Black stuff to ease me into a slumber. Take care.
Sheer madness, 2.25 Leopardstown - Top 3 should finish in top 123, no doubt. Can't get away from 2022 form of Churchstonewarrior though, out of a small barn. 7l of Gerri Colombe giving him 5lbs. 7l off Gaillard Du Mesnil of levels. Beat Mahler Mission who nearly won the Hennessy. Shouldn't get close to the win, maybe not the places as this is a very hot race, but he's worth a go in this company. I took some 140s to 4 places, and 100s to 5 places with B365 earlier. If one of the top 3 don't perform, it makes the chance of a place better value. Others will have other targets. Others will definitely not like that ground tomorrow after the storms and deluge of rain we have had here in Ireland. Maybe we won't be racing. Nice lad in the saddle too, will give him a good trip.
Morning all. ****ty day weatherwise with golf course closed so no end of year texas scramble comp. If only ATR still had the Irish racing. Really miss that on the big meets over Xmas. Sigurd ew @ 14/1 at Catterick 2.50 and Ludus ew @ 9/1 at Leopardstown 12.40.
Opener at catterick looks interesting i took 12s ew ( 3 places 365) on zaras universe it is a long shot but they have a chance . Best now 8s . Well done attivo and i hope everyone has had a good christmas and has a great new year .
Few non runners now in the big one. Shame to see Fastorslow pulled but it is understandable at the same time. It all seems right for the favourite Gerri Colombe now but I do like the look of I Am Maximus who was mentioned above by Skip. It is one of those races where you keep changing back amd forth with each look. It will take some getting today but I am sure they'll go a sensible gallop, just whoever has got the most left in the tank after the couple of laps.
I think A Plus Tard is a stonking e/w bet in the Savills Chase. His record at Leopardstown reads 112 (the 2 being when he was chinned on the line by Galvin in this 2 years ago) and he has proven form on heavy ground. I like the fact they have given him an easy time after a difficult last season (another one whose Gold Cup heroics seem to have left a mark) and if he comes here as fresh and well as when he rocked up at Haydock two years ago (that devastating performance to win the Betfair Chase) then he must go close today.
The Elliott runner being very well supported vs a well touted Mullins one in the opener. Maybe Tom Cooper will spoil both their parties.
Already tell Fairytale New York won't be trying - dropped right out the back. Already thinking about his handicap mark no doubt
Yeah, it would be very rare Tony Martin would be trying with one in such a field. I wonder how he would fair if he actually ran his better horses on merit rather than always trying to fiddle for a mark. Must be hard training all the time just trying to land a few gambles a year but that's the market he's in.
He hasn't got the style and panache that Barney Curley had. This interview Nick Luck did with him was one of the best I've ever seen:
