In my post which you quoted. Ollie Watkins had played zero championship minutes before Brentford signed him so how would that be an experienced signing? The top scoring player who is playing mainly as a striker this season Rajovic at Watford who had no championship experience. Experience means absolutely nothing.
I'd just play Rusyn and do everything possible to make him happy and feel at home. The language barrier isn't much of one, he knows his business and in this day and age we can talk to him if we want to.
That Rajovic was absolute dog s**t up here, just a big lump, personally I can't see us signing another striker unless we get rid of a couple which is highly unlikely imo.
If we do bring another in (which I’m not convinced we will with 4 on the books already) it will be the same sort of profile as the Japanese lad, relative unknown unless you work in football or an absolute football nerd
Like in any other line of work, there is no substitute for experience. It really is as simple as that
Burstow - Terminate Hemir - Loan or Terminate Mayenda - Keep, give a run in the team and swap when needed with Roberts to give us raw pace in behind. Seems to like to cut in and run across the pitch. Could be a handful. Rusyn - Keep and give more minutes. Strange how he has been isolated after make a decent impression. Replacement - if they are going into the market it needs to be a more established player who knows the league. Might cost a few quid but if they want to make the next leap it's needed. We are a full year without a striker scoring. Can not get a bigger piece of evidence to suggest our recruitment in the striker position has been abysmal.
I disagree strongly with this. Whilst it's true that an inexperienced gem can be found and hit the ground running, that's still rolling the dice, you can argue we have rolled it 4 times with Hemir, Mayenda, Burstow and Rusyn and they have 0 goals combined in half a season. The point of experience ie a successful track record is a significantly reduced risk of failure. If we bring in another young untested player we're repeating a process that has not succeeded this season.
Until we set up to give a striker chances, we could have Mbappe up there and still have a striker crisis.
What do you mean? Release the player ie pay up his contract? After we payed £600,000 from Benfica for him?
Loan or terminate. That was my response. Until he is bothered to run then I am easy with either option. I was willing to give the benefit but having seen in the under 21s he is possibly the laziest player I have ever seen for us. Walks everywhere. Minimal intensity despite the constant encouragement from coaching staff. Won't work in this league and for our system.
Terminate deal at a negotiable rate/balance with any deal we could make with another club. Loan would be preference but as I said, if someone won't run, it will not cut the mustard in the SOL.
Don't think we necessarily need someone who knows the league, would probably help hitting the ground running, but I think we definitely need an established striker who knows how to be a focal point as well as where the net is. Someone who is used to playing down the middle, can hold the ball up and press from the front. If we bring another in I'd rather we stay away from the winger/forward type as I don't think the have the natural instincts to stay central and offer that sort of outlet.
Yeah. I should have worded that bit better. Just more established really and someone who is a pure centre forward. Not a wide player are 'can' play in the middle. Seems to be a favourite of ours that. Wide players and just put through the middle
Name some available 'experienced' championship forwards who are actually good enough then? You can't because they barely exist. Like I have already said, the top scoring player who is mainly playing as a striker this season is Rajovic at Watford who had zero championship experience. It's a made up thing. We need good players not 'experienced' players.
He's likely earning between £2500 and £5000 a week and signed a 5 year deal. That means his contract was worth between £650,000 and £1.3m. Just pointing out the logistics of releasing the player would be costly and ultimately financial malpractice.
Yeah they seem to be the players we target more than a specialist. Maybe thought hemir could do it but at best doesn't look ready for that role yet. Has a lot to learn before he can lead the line on a regular basis. Couldn't name a player I'd go for which we could attract but agree with you they need to be more established than what we currently have.
