Had a busy day today with family so didn’t watch the game or keep up with the thread. Looks to be a great response to our loss against Coventry which was never a 0-3 loss really. A few individual mistakes made it look worse than it was. Buzzing the lads made up for it and buzzing for Beale to get a first win under his belt. 2 must wins coming up now and I think we’ll take 6 points from them. Mentioned on the last match thread that I sit in the Roker end and left out of sheer embarrassment when our fans started cheering subs and singing for Mowbray. Then went to the Rabbit afterwards and people were singing for him again… I hope the f*cking lot of them are embarrassed now. Made to look like absolute knob ends. Don’t care if you’re a season card holder and “entitled” to your opinion, going on like after ONE game under a new manager is dreadful.
FFS, the guy has been here a week and has had two matches to prepare for in that time, despite not knowing the players and coaching staff very well, if at all!!! Cut MB a bit of slack and give him time eh?
Do you want Beale out - yes Will it happen - no Is chanting against him idiotic - not if it will get him out and get someone better in Will it happen - no Is that where the expression 'pissing in the wind' started?
Truthfully I don’t think Beale is worse than Mowbray so I don’t care. Our squad is good enough to compete and Mowbray couldn’t do that he’s not some world class manager who we’re lucky to have. Beale is clearly a very good coach but quite young still and (speaking from experience) people management isn’t an easy thing it’s certainly something you get better with over time imo. I have to laugh at people saying we’ve taken the cheap option hiring a manager that was on £50k a week in his previous role whilst Stoke have hired Schumacher who was on peanuts. The compo paid to Plymouth would’ve been next to nothing.
Anyone going on like that after a win is as miserable as ****. Early days still but played well, spoke well and we are back into 6th place.
I 100% believe that, mate...and so does this club, the next club and every club in the land! Nobody gets sanctioned for their views vocal or not and you can say we're a disgrace one week and apply for away tickets the next...thank goodness...welcome to free society! If you choose to participate on a supporters board and try to create an echo chamber, no matter how loud you think it makes your voice, very few in the grand scheme are listening...all well and good. This board doesn't represent the majority and, to be honest, often directly contradicts the majority view. The fanzines gets slaughtered on here...they wouldn't get any views, listens or sell any magazine's if they weren't tapping into the general feeling to some degree.
On my way back from the match Jingle bells Jingle bells jingle all the way Oh what fun it is to see Sunderland win away
To be fair Hull have Delap up top who has no real experience or has done anything at this level.. like most clubs in the championship. They just don’t whinge about it every 2 minutes like our lot!
I think Roberts has been a bit under last season. But his stats are misleading. The amount of space he creates for others, and creates contributions that lead to genuine chances are more than the stats show. Mowbray used to talk about assisting the assister. He is not untouchable, but he is not as bad as stats alone suggest, in my opinion.
See this is where some might say you refuse to criticize our club mate. Even when it's staring us all in the face...you refuse to acknowledge that it is possibly unheard of in the entire history of football that a team...a proper team...can go half a season with out a single goal from a striker. Dress it up anyway you want... Yes we are in top 6. Imagine where we would be if we had a regular scoring striker. It's just my opinion.
It’s clear we have issues going forward, there were better signs second half and we look best when jobe is up front. While Beale tries to get to a solution to it we have to sort our defensive shape out, so when we struggle to break teams down, we still have that clean sheet. Other than a 10 minute spell where we lost our discipline and it went end to end, we were very solid and had a lot of control. Beale deserves his credit for today, like he said time for us to start showing consistency, let’s get 3 points at Rotherham and start cementing a top 6 place
I really like him I have to say. He talks well in my opinion, but I liked LJ! One thing stands out in that interview - fussy with our shooting. I think that is spot on, and probably has been for a while. I havent really thought about it but when you look at how players take a shot on it can be just a bit more delayed than it couls be, or more deliberate. Ask any goalkeeping coach what is the hardest to prepare a keeper for and they will say early shots. Take it early, whethee you are 20 yards or 2 yards out. Instinctive in your striking. For a lof of players that is confidence, but I do love he singled that out. Great coaching insight I think.
Sorry, that's bollocks. I do criticise the club and said yesterday we should be doing better. I do acknowledge we'd be better with a striker knocking the goals in. I'm dressing nothing up, just looking at the facts ... ... which are that, for whatever reason, the last two coaches haven't chosen our strikers in games. I'm not an idiot, I know a scoring striker would be great ... ... but I don't think the situation would change if I keep posting that opinion every twenty minutes as some people like to do. We all want a striker ffs.
From my relatively ignorant viewpoint, I thought we looked a lot more rigid defensively today. Happy to be corrected though
He was a handful today Delap mind with his pace and power. He’ll become a decent championship striker I reckon when it clicks. Made me think of a pre champagne era Wickham
