Sky has it down as 70.2% for the match SF, which I'd say looks closer to the mark, to me.
    618 passes to Villa's 252.
    88.8% success with them to Villa's 68.3%.
They were just aimlessly hoofing it towards the end.

Top 4 result, top 4 performance.

In absolute terms this is the best Spurs team I've seen in my 50+ years watching the club. Relatively, the early 60s team were better, but this team is phenomenal. 11 full internationals starting, 2 coming on, and the rest of the bench .... all full internationals bar Cudicini. Put Gomes there and it's a full house :). Amazing, absolutely amazing, to have collected such a team in a 36,00 stadium.

I was singing along with the TV, glory, glory, indeed.

Just got back from the lane, shame Ade didn't bring his shooting boots, he could've had 4 or 5, but he doesn't half work hard. Good performance, 3 points, bring on west brom. C.O.Y.S!!

indeed Ensil. plus i'm not sure we've hit top gear yet, maybe against Liverpool & QPR in patches, but there's more to come i'm sure.

He was everywhere tonight, he'll chase down a defender and when they pass it he'll chase down the player the ball's been passed to. Him and Parker are both setting a good example, Parker's had most of the credit so far but Ade has been fantastic as well in that respect.

Its weird not using your old handle Clyde <whistle> On tv Villa looked so poor we could have done the GD abit more good, amazing it was only two looking back.

Defend from the front...he'll have had that drilled into him under his previous managers, and it shows.

I could change it, i think i will. yeah Villa weren't really at it, but i think they were wary of our pace on the break and wanted to sit back, but then when we scored they didn't know what to do. it's a measure of how good we are. i just think City or Man U would've scored 3 or 4 in similar circumstances, but we're very nearly there. clean sheets & a brace for Ade, you can't complain.

Ade needed those goals as they are the first in seven matches. let's hope he finds the net more often now.

Yep he was due a goal. Mainly for his confidence, even when he's not scoring he's very important.

He still missed a couple of golden opportunities but I'm not complaining. He does though have an inconsistent streak about him which I hope Harry can sort out.

Two historical reasons to be cheerful...
1.) Going into a game needing to win by a two-goal margin to move up to third, we won 2-0. Traditionally we would've contrived to balls that up.
2.) Playing on a Monday, we won. Traditionally, we always choke playing Monday games.

I like it when we deviate from the script!

I'll go along with that! <ok>

It was also clear to me why JD does not start ahead of him...or VdV for that matter. You just knew what was coming when JD came on, hopeful shots from distance ignoring other options.

on the 1) i thought we only needed to win by 1 goal as our goal scoring would be better(yep pedantic)

but i was more worried about is lately when we go in 2 - 0 at the break we seem to let the foot off the gas and they get complacent, which i loved to see we didn't today. solid display throughout.

That's true. i feel sorry for JD though, if we played him i'm sure he'd score goals. & if he had a place in the team he might relax a bit and not always look to prove a point. But that's football, the two players ahead of him are better than him. We still have to keep him involved though because it's a long season & we'll need him at some point.

The players he's ahead of aren't as good, or experienced, as him - so it evens out...

On a side note, how dead is Villa's board? It's the message board equivalent of Forbidden Siren over there!
