If you get a minute mate, let us know; - How's your season going, in your opinion? - What are your team's strengths and weaknesses? Cheers, and Nadolig Llawen to you!
Hi Che, The season has been largely disappointing - due principally to appointing the ‘wrong’ guy to replace Russell. As for strengths, few if any to be honest. We have a decent goalie but little else, although I think we defend a little bit better than we did under Russ and don’t play as many suicide balls around our own box as we did under him. Wesknesses? All over the park…. we sold our main goal threat (Piroe) to Leeds. I’d take 0-0 now if it were offered!
Cheers. Yeah it seemed at one point Duff had you on a bit of a roll, but I guess not. For us, we've been completely dominating teams at home recently, and usually - given your position in the table - I'd be predicting the same for this one. But, I feel it might have the feel of a derby, what with Russ leaving you guys etc, so who knows, form often goes out the window in these type of heated atmospheres. Flynn Downes has been suffering from sickness lately, and if he isn't playing, that might just give you guys a chance, because we don't have any other DMs available (Shea Charles is suspended). Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season afterwards.
Don’t mention suicide balls around your own box. We’ve got better at it but there are still plenty of heart in mouth moments, especially if we are pressed with pace.
Saints V Swansea (sponsored by Marriott Hotels) I love these Euro matches. It was back in 2016 when we played Inter Milan and at long last we have foreign opposition at St Mary's again. It's not only a Championship match but also an International and our boys are not just playing for Saints but carrying the hopes of a nation (Inger land, Inger land, Inger land). I'm looking forward to hear the Northam reply to the tuneful renditions of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau coming from the away section with witty impersonations of sheep. The last time we played each other in a league game was in the hotelgate match. Just to fill in a few details for those who can't remember. Before our "winner takes all" relegation scrap, Saints had their booking in the pre-match hotel cancelled because they (the hotel) had a virus outbreak. Strangely, they were still taking bookings from other guests at the time but I'm sure there was an innocent explanation and nothing underhand was going on . Anyway, good triumphed over evil and Saints media department had the last laugh by giving the hotel a poor review on TripAdviser. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/may/09/southampton-twitter-swansea-hotel-cancellation Swansea City FC though couldn't have been better hosts. During a goalmouth scramble towards the end of the match; Swansea defence to Saints forwards "After you". Saints forwards "Oh no, I couldn't. After you." Swansea defence "No, I insist." Gabbiadini (Italian) "Grazie, non mi importa se lo faccio" And in that moment, 5 extra years of painful PL failure was assured. Despite all the above I quite like the slightly odd situation of having Welsh teams in the English leagues and won't be party to any England v Wales nonsense. Welcome to our guests from Swansea. Croeso ti cymraeg twats.
I've used it a few times but it can be a bit unreliable so try and have a stream link handy as a back up. You get a refund if it goes down but thats not much comfort if you miss half the game.
If any of you are interested, Davy jones Locker are playing a couple of sets at 1 & 2pm before game in the outside supporters section. Great indies cover band. Seen them a few times at local pubs & Ageas. Always put on a good set.
I stumbled apon these whilst surfing the net. https://app.soccerstreams100.io/ scroll down to find the match, select it and one of the feeds should be ok. https://a.fsl-stream.im/football-streamz5/ Today's games not listed yet, may come up later.
Alan Sheehan: "We have got to dust ourselves down quickly and be ready to go. “We have shown resilience away from home, so it’s about building that character to be able to get wins and points on the board. “We are at the halfway stage of the season, we are not where we want to be but hopefully we can keep building confidence within the group. “We know the challenge, every game poses different questions and challenges but we want to go there and put on a performance. “Winning is a good habit to get in to, particularly when you know you have room to improve.” Russell Martin: “It'll be nice to see people and catch up with people who were brilliant for us in our two years there, but ultimately I want to win the game. “They will want to win the game, so I don't know if that makes it any more special or not, but hopefully we win and then then I can enjoy seeing people after, because if we don't win, you don't enjoy any of that.”
Just had a day where a load of large fowl got stuffed and roasted, won't complain if there are a few more today at St Marys
