Well this is huge news given the US Supreme Court had previously said it would not hear this case before the Presidential election, leading to a rash of cases in individual state courts.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67899435

Of course, it does lay bare the preposterous arrangement whereby the President appoints Supreme Court judges who support his political viewpoint and also the arrangement by which Presidents can declare themselves immune for prosecution!

Kick-off time in the Sunderland v Newcastle tie.

The Times covers a previous derby with the classic photograph of a Newcastle fan punching a police horse. Only up north….

Been watching that. Makes a change to see a challenge not being carded for next to nothing. The Ref and in fairness the players so far have been sensible and not rolled around. Like a lot of Derbies it isn't the greatest of football even if the atmosphere is hot.

Newcastle have struggled recently in the league and Europe under a deluge of injuries. I thought they would play a weakened side but obviously they didn’t dare in this derby fixture. The difference in class is clear although Sunderland have tried their best.

Watched the West Ham v Brfistol City replay tonight. Thought West Ham were the league one side and Bristol the Prem outfit. Overall the play was crap but it was one of those you didn't want to take your eyes off as well. I kept waiting for the brawl.

That provides us with one FA Cup game for the next round of predictions but one!

I’ve been watching the ITV documentary on the next US election and of course Trump and his disciples. Terrifying. Truly terrifying.

I'm almost at the point of never watching any elections again. It is definately X rated stuff no matter where it is taking place these days. My thought is that Covid was really a mind bending bug that has turned the whole world into zombie like beings when elections take place. With the results there have been over the last few years all semblance of common sense has been removed. The current electioneering in the US is just the prime example.

Russia and China must be laughing up their sleeves...at western democracy...although corrupt enough....we have no secure leadership compared to how they control their opposition parties.

To oppose their regimes means....absentmindedly falling out of a window...or being poisoned...or being lock away for a sentence that is continually being increased....brave men and women all of them.

The weirdest part was about local militia that have sprung up.

They filmed an evangelical religious group in the backwoods who practice firing their AR15s in the woods before church and bizarrely all appear to be of South East Asian origin. We saw a packed church service giving thanks for Donald Trump while one parishioner waved his assault rifle above his head in the aisle.

Most frighteningly, the pastor wound the segment up by saying that he believed it was more important that the populace were armed than the national military. He believed that should Trump win the election, the militia groups would rise up and correct the electorate’s error and called on the military to throw down their arms.

    Really spooky.

When we get a blizzard we get 14 flakes but not necessarily in the same hour.

    Perfect Storm.

I live in the end of a cul-de-sac......dustbin day can be a problem.....the prevailing wind generally means that I inherited bits and pieces of other peoples dustbins into my front garden and borders on that day.

Dustbin day is Monday and we need to have our bins etc... out by 7am.....so most people put them out late Sunday afternoon.

Now this last Sunday as you well know was quite a stormy night....some had winds up to 90mph plus.....we where luckier than that and we probably had gust only up to 50/60mph.

So there was more than the usual amount of rubbish blowing around my front garden....and even more interesting where two empty dustbins.

But even more interesting my back garden had lots of rubbish blowing around as well and some was tucked under the rear hedges....now you cannot get into my rear garden directly.....so most of that rubbish must have blown over the top of my bungalow roof.

Mid Monday morning I did notice two neighbours wandering around still looking for their dustbins.

So the perfect storm is high winds the night before dustbin day.
