I see Willie Mullins has a 115 horse in the Betfair hurdle, carrying 9.12 and he is 8/1 joint 3rd fav
This is something I learned from our ptp exploits. Proceed with caution, when they start exceeding your expectations, chuck them in the deep end to see what they’ve got. Sum it up couldn’t win in open company with a penalty. That’s why we sold him on to a novice rider who should easily win races with him.
Not particularly Oddy. Apart from Choccabloc (Class 2 winner) and G2 2nd Insurrection I wouldn't be too concerned and would be hoping for a place. Anything better the handicap mark could be blown but novice hurdles/chases could be fun
And in two posts you’ve pretty summed up a lot of conversations. It’s a game of opinions, alright! it’s an EBF qualifier, which I think is one of the reasons for a good set of entries. A good few have multiple entries though, so it’ll be interesting who goes elsewhere. Top four qualify for the final.
7 previous hurdle winners including Rock Danse. I'll allow you the other 6 look pretty poor but if all the previous winners turn up then its a very decent class 3 novice hurdle. @NassauBoard he'd get in off 10-02 in the next race on the card
Problem is they’ve changed entry conditions for good handicaps to require 4 hurdles runs to be eligible. It’s been a bloody nightmare as I’d rather have gone into handicaps.
Ah OK I didn't know that. Bugger - with Call Me Lord entered you could have been rubbing shoulders with Simon Munir Still could in the owners bar I suppose
I wasn't implying it was a poor entry Oddy, far from it. Merely suggesting that, apart from the two I mentioned, who I think have better form to call on, and would probably be the first two favs, Rock Danse has as good a chance as any in the race. Sorry if it didn't come over like that
Should be ideal for him. I think the top 3 have it between them and Rock Danse has better bare form than the Brookhouse horse. The only one I would have a slight worry about would be Classic Anthem - stepping up in trip and 2nd run after wind surgery though so not guaranteed to improve from his last run. Be interesting to see the opening show - I think anything bigger than 2/1 would be a nice price on Rock Danse.
Quite right. He seems to have come out of the race well, and we should have learnt plenty from the race.
