Isak happened eventually, after being linked for a while. Otherwise yeah, we seem to move more stealthily, as with Guimaraes and Tonali. By the time the papers realise what's happening, the deals nearly done.

Agreed - this time any player with even a reasonably sizeable price tag has got to be deemed very unlikely.

Yes there has been a surprise here and there I suppose actually.

Yes and what's happened at Everton is a shot across any owners bows that if they even as much as attempt to compete with the big clubs they can and will now be punished.

I actually don't think the Saudis are that arsed about Newcastle and are more focused on the Saudi league because they can't impose their financial strength on Newcastle anyway.
I suppose at least things are better than they where.

Don't sign anyone ...no point the seasons a car crash. Give the manager the chance to work with what he has.

****ing stupid transfer. He’ll take weeks and weeks to get anywhere near the level needed, plus he’s completely the wrong style needed.

If Howe thinks the problem is this then he needs getting rid of. And so does anyone backing up that view.

He was comfortably the worst player on the pitch when we played them in the league cup. Honestly I ****ing despair of this English try hard plodder mindset.

You don't fancy him then?

I think Roland has been right on signings and I can see what he's saying about Phillips. I suppose it depends what else comes in though.

Right someone explain to me why City will announce a signing on the 1st of Jan, Postecoglu is speaking about early signings, but we may “open talks” at some point??

Why does it always feel like Newcastle are so **** at transfers?

Maybe they know how far along our injured players are out for? If Willock and Anderson are back soon then do we need to prioritise cm?
Maybe we’ve decided to go and get a certain position (thinking striker here) that may cost most of our budget so trying to ask around and are quoted fees etc?

I think Newcastle are still just quite a bit further behind other clubs than our fans care to realise.

Aston Villa have set up a new system that means they have people located closer to the players they are after and can act quicker, so I think Newcastle and other clubs might follow the same model in future.

Sign Phillips on loan and the sell Guimareas in the summer for 3 or 4 times the price agreed for Phillips probably.

Then they can buy Maguire and a right sided attacking fwd.

Can someone please urgently explain to Steveley & co that the only way the club will progress will be to get:

Howe out > Chaos in.
Tindall out > GG in.
Ashworth out > Roly in.

It's the ONLY way to fix team selection, tactics, squad rotation, game management & transfer activity.

Otherwise we'll have to sell all our best players and get relegated.

Tonali was Bruno’s replacement. A small part of me believes that they knew about his “addiction “ hence the transfer fee.

I don’t get the Phillips deal (not saying he’s not worth signing) as Gordon admitted that his fitness levels were nowhere near what was expected of him and Phillips has played about 3 hours of football in 2 years

Tonali can't play every game mate.. I'm begining to wonder if they're actually just preparing to sell Willock... he's got something Newcastle seem to hate in midfield which is the ability to run past a player.
