Very true. It’s all about getting one of those last two playoffs spots. Lots of teams in the running. I can see Norwich having a good second half of the season to bring them into the fight. As we know, playoffs are a lottery. We can beat most teams in this division on our day. This has to be the season we go for it for me. We may lose a few gems if not.
Agreed, you just have to look at the nose. We're in the play-off places. We're in the play-off places. We're in the play-off places. We're in the play-off places.
And if we're still there at the end of the season we have a 1 in 4 chance of going up. The other 3 teams will fancy their chances too, it's a long way from a sure thing.
DuaneDarby18's take is much more honest & accurate imo. ".... Intention lost us that game. Time and time again, we see that when we go forward and attack (usually because we need to), we look a top side. We just decide not to kill the opposition off. The frustrating thing is, we did against Cardiff. And I thought we’d turned a corner. Ah well. As for the goalkeeping. Allsopp not good enough again. Ingram was stupid to try and pass it out. Even if he is told to do it (which I will never agree with), you don’t play that ball through the middle. Why can’t keepers just kick it long anymore? Masters of our own downfall tonight" I praised Rosenior for Saturday's great performance. I criticise him for last night's performance (largely because of the above). When he says "we have to learn quickly", I honestly think it's more about him learning quickly. Hopefully he does as he cost us as much if not more than anyone last night. Yes, it's the players who are on the pitch, but it's the gaffa, even from the stands, who determines the tactics etc. We were happy to have 'control of the game' by retaining possession in favour of pushing on to kill the game off, and at 2-1 with so long to go, that cost us. When Bristol had the lead, they were still positive, we weren't.
Bruce did have a 'plan B'. It was to throw on as many attacking players as he could!! "I don't know how many strikers we had on at the end there, he he".
I'm less annoyed at the keepers as at the clear directive to waste time and set up shop when up 2-1. We should have killed the game.
I wonder if Rosie not being on the touchline yelling at them to wake up in the second half made a difference?
Subs were naff again too. Sacrificed our main wide outlet for Slater who’s not a wide player, in turn lost that and then the in behind option in Connolly. Depth really hurting us.
We had no decent wide players to bring on. Lokilo was gash as always. Typical of all our signings from Turkiye.
On my stream the video cut to him at a random point when we were 2-1 up, and Rosey's head was in his hands.
Sums a lot of it up Ern, BUT.... unless we pull off a miracle signing Delap and replace Morton we might be in the same boat. As it stands, thinking about your 65% not counting Delap and Morton, I think k we have 5 definite starters...
You’re not wrong. Subs are just too often killing us. We completely lost control after Connolly went off.
Squad depth, lack of real experience and on the pitch intelligence of how to see out games and grind out results is killing us
First post in ages due to health issues A lot’s happening since last season. Been reading the forum pages as and when I could especially these last few months whilst in and out of Hospital and especially now while being back home recuperating. Looking at the current Championship table it’s plain to see City are still in with a hell of chance of grabbing that final play off spot. Ok..we have problems, that’s been apparent for a while now but it’s not like we need major surgery or a change of management like last season. If the big Turk really wants to go for it this season I believe two or three astute January signings might just tilt the odds back in our favour. We play good football, on the deck and have a possession game out from the back you either love or hate, . Whilst whe arguments most of which are valid rage about just how lightweight we are defensively we still have another transfer window to take stock, work out what’s missing and have at least another half the season to go out and prove a lot of doubters wrong. UTT. Merry Crimbo everyone.
Twine did masses of work with good control but he’s too wide and not quick enough for wing play where he seemed to be pushed later in the game . Though we lost shape and they got possession too easily , it went out to their left winger very quickly
