I wasnt sighing about the fact concerning your opinions regarding the players Doc, I agree that their days of playing for ourselves has been and gone My sigh was based upon the fact that you decided to highlight one small remark out of my whole reply to justify that was I "putting words in your mouth". You asked a question, I gave an answer, Our opinions differ, that in itself isnt a problem. If you want a discussion, then I am always more than happy to take part, as even though we disagree a lot, I find your posts thought provoking. However with your previous reply, its seems like you just want to argue your point until anyone who has a differing opinion gives up, so I am happy to surrender straight away, because I can't be bothered in arguing a point that to me is fairly insignificant
Galway whites raved about this lad for past couple of years and we had endless discussions about him. So fckin annoying possibly best we’ll produce for a long time and he never plays one game for us while we get stuck with a bunch of Joe average youngsters never gonna play in the pl. whatever compensation we get is pointless. Back in bates or cellinos days the talent was sold off to balance the books. I thought we’d have gone beyond that by now. I’m getting close To disliking the sport completely due to this stuff
I I see your point but we probably do the same to other clubs. There is no loyalty in football anymore, only money. .
Anyone remember the Michael Woods and Tom Taiwo fall out with Chelsea? We got £6 million for those two 16 year old top prospects. Tom Taiwo ended up playing for Carlisle before playing in the 2nd tier of the Scottish pub leagues. Michael Woods ended up at Hartlepool and played a decent amount of non-league stuff. In hindsight we got the better of the deal but at the time we thought we'd been shafted. Luke Garbutt was poached by Everton and forced to pay us a measly 600k for a 'future England Captain' in 2009. His career highlight was probably helping Salford to knock Leeds out of the league Cup this season. Meanwhile, Leeds took advantage of Wigans financial problems to take McGurk and Gelhardt for next to nothing. We also bullied Feyenoord for Summerville paying only £1 million and he's now worth 20-30 million. Struijk similar. We're no angels.
The problem with Gorman is that we cannot hold him as no contract as hes a kid. Our only way would be let him go and then tribunal where we would get awarded a few quid. We actually went about it in the interests of the club knowing Gorman was going to City and City decided to negotiate a fair fee so we got a record fee for a 15yo. As you say we had no chance of keeping him when City came in
Morning all. anyone watched the latest ALAW podcast? Rutter comes across as a really good guy and it’s an interesting watch!
No surprise there. Have to go on a bit of a job so will miss first half although will have sky sports on the phone in the van. Not strictly legal but what the hell
For the past couple of season we’ve had no experience on the bench. We were short in numbers so had to use the likes of Joffy and a few others from the U21s and it’s ruined them. They didn’t get the game time in the U21s as they were required for the main squads bench. This season kicked off and we had the rats jumping, we needed some stability. Ayling and Cooper have tons of experience, they’re not going to disrupt the dressing room and they’re not throwing dummies out the pram demanding to play. They have no resale value, to replace them you are still going to have to pay a wage, I don’t see the harm myself in keeping them as squad players until the end of the season. I certainly wouldn’t be allowing them to join any Championship team that might help them steal points off us
Looks like the better teams get outplayed by Leeds on the counter but teams who park the bus show the way against Leeds. If we can beat the low block we will not be far away
That was a great performance from everyone yesterday with everyone marked above 7 in the first team. Subs marked lowest ranging from 7 for Gruev to 4 from Bamford. Early kick off at Preston, quick turnaround and suppose today will be seeing who has knocks to get over. Will FARKE risk changing it?
Have a feeling Bamfords going to start against Preston and Gnonto too, what say you. Don’t see the point of Paddy now as it’s been so long since he added anything to the club. Hardly played for 2 years only scored a couple of goals last season and the season before and none this season. Even Tyler Roberts outscored him last season. If he does get the nod against Preston I hope it’s last chance saloon for him at the club. I have to hope he scores and have no doubt that the fans will be on his side if he breaks his duck
He never touches the ball anymore. No chance of him scoring or contributing. He’s fast approaching similar legendary status as Brolin
Respected football journalists who don’t do clicks are saying: If Brighton are forced to sell Mitoma either in January or the summer, then Summerville is the No1 replacement. Blackburn have put in an official request to take Joe Gelhardt on loan in January.
