When someone says to me, “are you a JAWDEE?”. I simply say no whilst looking at their puzzled expressions. Bart
I was at Uni in Birmingham in the early 90s and a common response to my accent was ‘Oh, Byker Grove!’ Bloody annoying.
Right about the Geordie thing. I sang those songs, was called a Geordie, most of say, Durham northward was thought to be Geordie by others. None of it was given a second thought. The term was appropriated by John "****house" Hall. He wanted to whip up interest in an imaginary " Geordie Nation" as part of his rabble rousing prior to floating the club he had recently bought. The needy and insecure bought into it, he floated the club, scarpered, and left a supporter base permanently deranged. Mind, I had heard the Mackem and Takem thing said in the early seventies too. Even before I started working.
Because it's not often the club get fed up of a manager before the fans. There was some discontent but not the usual. Mowbray was still well liked by many. And Beale was underwhelming for many.
Very interested to see his setup and team at the weekend, hoping to see the fullbacks overlapping Clarke and Roberts once again as we have some real quality in those positions.
It was excellent, I was there and always thought he'd score ... ... but I know the difference between a chip and a shot. His shooting is generally poor, I don't know anyone who'd disagree.
I was just messing pal, it’s definitely a part of his game that needs to get better and I’m sure it will.
I've said and done some horrendous things, in real life, only rescued by that twinkle when people realised I was just messing ... ... ask Tees, our first meeting could've been a disaster
Training looks excellent. Really sharp and intensity levels spot on. Loved some of the little details. The little 10 minute game, bollocking someone for overcomplicating something. The training leaderboard is class as well, I know a few coaches who do that and they say players love it. Looked like everything was small sides stuff, which is a futsal trait, and is how I love to coach - everything shrunk down. Good stuff in my opinion.
. Shrunk down is right, football should be a simple game played with effort and determination. My Sunday League manager would give us all clear instructions ... ... 'you, get ten shots on goal, you, never let their midfield lad get more than a foot away from you ..... etc'. It worked much better than game plays and complicated routines.
