Stoke City have confirmed the sacking of Alex Neil. That makes Rosie the 9th longest serving manager in the league.
It really is odd what has happened to Stoke since Pulis left, Hughes did okay to a point, but since then they have had some good managers but none of them have managed to succeed.
The owner doesn’t seem to want to commit to getting them promoted anymore. They might end up going through what we did.
Aren’t they also a bit screwed from a ffp perspective? Like Boro, ran out of tricks. He has the money but now harder to make it appear as revenue for the club etc.
Recruitment has been shocking for the most part I’d say. Like you say John they’ve recruited some good managers when their stock was high. Nathan Jones when Luton were top of League 1, Rowett from Derby after a play off finish, Neil from Sunderland after a play off final win and doing well with them. The managers just can’t seem to get it right…
Pretty much. Their owners are by far one of the richest in the league but they’ve pulled pretty much every lever they can to stay compliant. They’ll likely have to sell and be sustainable
