So the Euro Court of Justice has said that the banning of the ESL was "unlawful" and that they were "abusing their dominant position" when threatening to impose sanctions. Think we all knew this thing would come back, but what's people's thoughts on it now? I only mean in respect of UEFA creating and extending its' own competitions to the point where European football and elitism is at its absolute worst.
Saudis will step in now. If there is going ro be a super league, they will want it. And others won't be able to say no to the
I fully expect the super league to happen once they get all their ducks in a line again. This idea they changed their mind because of the fans is only half the story. Basically Roman pulled out so rest had to and some hung in there for a good while making desperate phone calls to Roman and Mansour. They will simply redress it and over time sell the idea to the fans...as soon as they have a bit of media support and an argument for and against they'll just do it. The foreign markets already want it.
It will happen and Newcastle won't be involved.. it might explain why the Saudis aren't doing much with Newcastle and why instead are focused on the Saudi league.
Any form of super league that involves the big teams will simply destroy the game. Rich will get richer and everyone else will eventually just fold.
Only 2 of the 6 clubs pulled out for the fans and 1 really which was Roman and he's been replaced by an American who's club can't get in the champions league. The other clubs owners were devastated and had to lie about being sorry.
This is goes out the window if the super league starts amd then it's whether Saudi Arabia want to bother. They aren't here to make us all happy.
Newcastle aren't going to be mate it's for the elite clubs and Newcastle are a big reason why they want to pull up the drawbridge.
Nah, the ESL/A22 folk have gone away and done their witchcraft, they're now talking about 60-80 clubs in a "true meritocracy", lols!
**** Newcastle United if it enters the ESL I'll never follow a club that contributed to the death of the game. The British Leagues are a tradition, something we have had since the 1800s. These ****ing yanks want to change it for themselves. If Any British club goes in for that, let cancer take their owners.
I think in the end people would watch it...once the marketing starts and once people get in from work they'll pop it on. The fans will go to games still they can't just switch it off.
It won't happen. The English clubs are now too scared of a government and fan backlash and, without them, it's meaningless. The reason the plan collapsed was nothing to do with UEFA saying it would ban the clubs, but the fan and government reaction. When the government finally comes out with its plans to introduce an independent regulator for English football I think it will regulate against actions by clubs to exit league structures without fan approval.
Disagree - I think the fans have shown what they want - national competitions with commutable games. The ESL is doomed to fail whoever they take and however much they pump into it. No way people want to watch the same 12-18 teams battle it out every year on TV with little prospect of getting to 50% of games... They could pay me and I still wouldn't watch it, rather go to the Cherry Red Record Stadium and watch AFC Wimbledon vs Gillingham in the FA Trophy Vase with 1,500 others on a pissing wet, cold night than sit home and watch Real Madrid vs Inter Milan on the box.
Basically it’s like champions league Europa and the other league 3 groups 1st group. 16 teams. 2 groups 2nd group the same 3rd group 32 teams. 4 groups then play off to a final in each group. and relegation from all groups. last time the “elite” were guaranteed not to be relegated
