Yep. I’m old enough to remember waggy & chillo but outside of those two, can’t think of a better striker in a city shirt than Keith Edwards. Lethal.
Keith Edwards....what a player he was, definitely up there with waggy and chilton....was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago, nice bloke too
Was his wife with him, if not did he know where she was? The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Andy Payton and Stuart Elliott wasn't half bad. Andy Flounders and Les Mutrie both had decent runs as goal scorers.
Stuart Pearson was no slouch, not with us long (44 goals in 129 games). I remember the 4 vs Portsmouth very well.
Matty Fryatt rarely seems to get a mention when goal scoring exploits are being mentioned - I think he was pretty lethal, averaged a goal every three games throughout his career which is pretty good.
My wife to be’s first game. She had never been to a game though she loved football. Had met her 3 weeks previously. A day I remember well. We had lost 1-0:away to Middlesbrough. I remember one of the lads telling her it is not like this every week.
Remember when we got promoted to league 1 under Peter Taylor. We did Kidderminster 6-1 at home then Northampton 5-1 away. Next match was Carlisle at home who were rock bottom. My mate went to the Concorse bookies and put us down for 9 and 10 nil. Ended 2-1 to city. We do still mention it to him.
Still can’t get my head round this Sharp signing lol. At his age, MLS or Saudi or even National League would seem proper. Can’t see what he offers a team that is based around possession and pressing. If Óscar didn’t suit Rosenior’s style of play then Sharp won’t suit it cubed.
Guess TWT. You’re not necessarily past it at 37. As long as we bring in another striker I can live with it.
Why his age?, if he is fit enough and he knows where the net is who cares what his age is. Foreman won a world title at 40 and was fat, soldiers go fight at 38 and older, his legs ain't gone i saw a photo of him with both legs still attached..
We got rid of our top scorer from last season with no replacement already in the building because he apparently didn’t suit the manager’s style of play and we’ve gone and signed an old man on a six month contract who also doesn’t suit our style of play. It’s daft.
I guess it’s for his leadership & experience…5 promotions isn’t it?? In terms of age…pros these days are a different level to the last generation. How old is Ronaldo ? 40+ he is still an athlete in his prime, so it’s possible
He is not an old man lol he is 38, deano did a job for us at 39 faye was 36 when he last played for us barmby was 38 could have been 37 not sure but they did good jobs for us and quite a few teams have had players in the late 30's.
