"Premier league clubs will be ringing us up or knocking on our door for some of our players but we will be ignoring them" Telling them before the window opens to not waste their time.
Dodds spoke about this well, he said that he acknowledges Bennette wants a loan but that it needs to be a good loan for him and Sunderland in that it’s a team that would utilise a player like benette (and not a hoof it up team)
So far so good from Beale on the press conference front. Not that it is really relevant anyway. I cant wait to see how he develops this team in the next 2-3 months. I spoke to a Liverpool academy coach tonight. Glowing is the word. Also says he is driven and focussed and any negativity from fans will motivate him, not agitate him. Time to see how adaptive our fans are for me. I believe the internet hoard are far less representative than those in the ground and we will be spot on.
There's a player there, needs a lot of coaching and time. Must be a huge upheaval at his age to come here at such a young age and then to not be playing at any level must be hard
Definitely mate. Thought he looked alright on the brief occasions he’s came on. Seems like another case of too many players battling for a position that the manager had his mind made up on. If he was called Jason Bennett he might stand a chance
I liked what Beale said about being told about some of the fans comments and he said "that's because they care about their club". I think he'll do fine, all the talk within the game suggests he's a top drawer coach and that's what we've employed him to do. He isn't running the scouting network or buying players, he's coaching the first team which is what he's best at. He speaks a lot less jargon than LJ used to.
My Liverpool supporting mate said he was the brains behind gerrards success. I mentioned it yesterday, but you may have missed it in between the grammar and elocution lessons
I went on like a bit of a tit on Friday when the Beale rumours were coming through. I've already done a full 180 on how I felt then, think he speaks very well, has clearly stated playoffs is the aim, will clearly be very willing to work within the 'model' as most of his career so far has been within youth football and his best work has been as a coach not a manager. I honestly think we can completely ignore what Rangers fans say about him as he is in a different role here. After a bit of research you can clearly see why he has been appointed, and I personally believe it will be a good fit.
Notice Beale put his arm around Bennette and then at the end Clarke has his around him too? Looks to be a well liked lad so hopefully a fresh start under Beale will help the boy
Seems like he's got broad enough shoulders to carry the expectation and not have it bother him. The reaction to him joining was way over the top and unjustified but it looks like he's taken it on the chin. I was expecting him to be talking in riddles from what I'd read on here but he's actually pretty straightforward.
We’re crying out for another wide option, the option could have been here the whole time the lads desperate to impress, he’s rapid and whips a good ball in, 2 off the top of my head the one for rigg v Southampton and one for Amad at Coventry last year would love him to start making an impact from the bench over the next few weeks
Let's be honest. For all the reports and chew when he was announced none of us care as long as we do well. He said today he's looking at playoffs, if he achieves that then brilliant. He can have as many buzzwords and PowerPoints as he likes if he achieves that
I was always told, rightly or wrongly, that we mak em (ships) in Sunderland and tak em to the Tyne to be fitted out.
It's a funny situation with Benette. Lads a full international, playing in the world cup, putting assists in and scoring and not just against tiny teams (USA, Japan, Germany....) But he needs more experience and coaching... Hopefully whatever the issue is gets sorted because I reckon he's a decent player. Hopefully Beale can do that for him.
