Dunno, it's not just footy vlogs though, mebbes it just the sort of behaviour they think will get them more views, mebbe people who like making videos are a more extravagant type of character, who knows. End of the day, their life their choice, it's not as if they are forcing it upon anyone. Also, they appear to get decent viewing figures, which in essence is most likely what continues to drive them onwards.
I'm not saying otherwise. Would be absurd if that was the case. I'm just saying there are others who claim to have ITK that say differently.
I listened for about half a minute (ferty seconds, to him) before I had to stop, and I'll never listen to him again 'cos of his laziness . . . . yet 12 seconds in he said something properly (there's), proving that he can but chooses not to, so it's got absolutely now't to do with accents/regionalisation
I do it myself. Years with a speech therapist as a kid got me nowhere. Always good reading **** like this. Feels like a punch in the froat.
I have no idea who it is you are talking about mate. But my thoughts on his idea is he cant possibly right, not at all. Who would pick the team if not Mowbray? Mowbray, with all his experience and hopefully self-esteem would not allow that. If he wasnt allowed to pick the team is he allowed to make the subs? What happened when we got an injury in the warm up, who made that swap? If a player felt a twinge on a Friday who does he tell about availablity. If Roberts is dropped for tactical reasons who explains that to him. If a player has a shocking week in training who decides on his selection. What if the fella who does pick the team is ill, who does it then. What if, what if, what if. Not having a go at you mate, but whoever is pushing this idea has to be on a wind up. It is one of the most mind boggling ideas I have heard.
Doesnt but absolutely encourages the Head Coach to give certain players increased opportunity. Both of the last Head Coaches have eventually come out and said what most thorough was true and ultimately it damaged the relationships between Head Coach and DOF to a point where a new person was needed to be brought in.
No mate, no offence, but it's nowt to do with accent or even dialect. Brumies, Cockneys, Scousers, Mancs, North East, Scots, Irish or Welsh....all have different accents. It's the way the word is delivered, not the accent or tone. However, it is a fact that those who live in the Greater London area are supposedly more renown for delivering words....without 'TH' This is nothing to do with accent at all. Also this is not aimed as a mocking those, it's a fact that others are now hearing their kids copying this more and more. The BBC have said in the past that most foriegners deliver the english language better than those born in the UK, who choose not to.
I wonder how southerners feel about having Geordies on MOTD ... ... and people like Waddle trying to cover up their natural accent. Or Ant & Dec laying on the accent when it suits them and they're talking about the Toon What do people want from Beale, elocution lessons or some 'Larn yerse Geordie' fakery ffs ... ... a new manager and we're discussing his pronunciation, dear me.
Tell you what, if all people are worried about in a few weeks is how he speaks, then we’re onto a good’n
Fwiw - you northerners seem to say Sun’lun. Leaving most people thinking “why aren’t they saying the d’s?”. It’s not because they’re lazy! somebody in the south pronouncing words but leaving out the “th” sound isn’t them being lazy or not caring to speak properly.
Agreed. There are definitely some people who, for whatever reason, find it difficult to make the 'th' sound. Living just outside London, I know people who, when speaking formally, pronounce 'th' correctly, and when speaking informally, pronounce some words with a 'ff' instead. There are also people who don't know the difference and say 'ff' when they should, and could, say 'th'. Suggest to me there is an element of regional pronunciation in it.
I'm proud to have been born in Sunderland and despise my southern accent but being away for 40 years from the age of 5 does that to you. I will remember to use my posh southern accent at all times now so as not to be considered lazy or not caring to speak proper
Where I live, people (mainly my wife) claim they can barely understand my NE accent. When I go home, everyone thinks I've got a Southern accent.
