Newcastle Thunder RL team, a distant successor to Gateshead Thunder/Hull FC, has withdrawn from RL and closed down. David Lloyd’s dream is finally over.
I think you (and all of us) would find it easier to play 90 mins of football than a rugby league game, G...
Good to see that they're paying out the seasons contracts but a shame for the players and staff losing out long term. Football's gain though. Think it's the start of the end. Like speedway in the uk, ice hockey in Norway, cricket in the west indies etc sports can die out if not managed well or if unlucky.
By 'easier' are you inferring that rugby league ( it's, rough, it's tough, it's rugby league) is a harder game to play then football? It may be true on the physical side but for actuall skill. No comparision matey. Back in the day at my old school, Endike, on games afternoon, which was compulsory, the lads who could kick a ball were picked into football teams and the others, usually the fat lads, and the misfits, were thrown a rugby ball and told to go and play amongst themselves. An ex-pro footballer I knew used to re-tell a story regarding this particular arguement. He said..'thrown a footballer a ball and he'll probably juggle it from foot to foot, onto his shoulder, onto his head, thighs, then back to his feet, then throw a rugby player a ball and he'll probably drop the bastard' Footnote; I once guested for Ideal Standard RL team when they were short, I scored three tries and kicked four goals because not one of the regular players could kick a ball between the sticks, even without a goalkeeper trying to keep it out. The 'trys' were easy, I soon worked out that you simply ran behind the biggest fat lad and waited for him to pass the ball back to you, then you have the full width of the pitch to place the ball behind the line. Piece of piss.
Hull FC have a new manager. The Airlie Birds have been in flying form since Liam took over the Black and Whites. A new style of play promised playing it out from the back... https://planetradio.co.uk/greatest-...incolnshire/news/liam-rosenior-hull-contract/ g
May have to put something on the RIP thread for journalism, then again, it may just have been written by a complete buffoon.
I must admit I thought there was some quite impressive trolling going on and actually gave a little nod of appreciation at the response. But I’ve just looked at his Twitter feed, which seems to be predominantly Eurovision-related so I suspect that the normal sports reporter’s having a day off and this kid’s standing in and having a bit of a ‘mare.
Hope they repeat that clip from a Rovers game in France that Burnsy used to delight in putting on. Gollum was wittering on apologising for the lack of teams news, kept saying it is totally quiet must be a problem with the tannoy system…Will let you know as soon as they fix it…Turned out they were having a 2 minute silence to mark the passing of a former president of the club.
Lloyd achieved is main aim which was winding people up . He gets a massive kick out of it and is only happy when people are at each others throats .
My mate at work who retired today worked with him for years at a print firm. He said he was only ever happy when he caused arguments.
