4231 i think, well the games ive watched its been that. High pressing team, they work really hard and like to attack but the thing i love about him is he develops players. Bodo have been great at signing players, developing them then selling on but with no drop off in the teams performance

Fair enough. He did manage their 2nd best season since coming back up though (with no signings of his own as he took over after window shut) and it was against a ridiculous Celtic team so not sure what more they were wanting from him. They only lost 4 games and 2 were against Celtic. I’m inclined to agree with @Nads about old firm fans mind but again, Beale wouldn’t be my choice and does seem a bit underwhelming after the rumours that circulated over the last few days.

Not a fan of Beale but while his transfers were very poor that is largely irrelevant here as we know the head coach doesn't have much say

Who? Dessers and Lammers are both regulars playing well I can only think of Danilo other than that?

They lost Kent and Morelos on frees, Sakala and Kamara left too.

Spent my morning flicking through Elfsborg highlights just to get a feel for how a Thelin team plays. Got some good examples and will link them below with timestamps.

0:45 - Turnover of possession, quickly move ball forward, direct running with the ball and plenty of bodies flying forward.

0:08 - Neat short passing creates space for an early ball into the box. You can see the forward makes the run as soon as the crosser gets the ball, clearly a planned pattern of play.

1:00 - Turnover of possession turns quickly into an attack, plenty players get into the box for a good cross.

1:30 - Wide full backs available for quick switch of play, plenty players in box for early cross.

1:49 - Win the ball in the middle of the pitch, straight away they look to find the runner in behind.

2:04 - High press, force opposition into making a bad pass, win possession, quick shot.

My overall opinion is that it's an exciting brand of football that would fit our squad well. Thelins team play with an emphasis on winning the ball high up the field, looking to turn defence into attack quickly, early crossing, bodies into the box, direct running with the ball and feeding the forwards early and often. Obviously highlights do not show the full picture but I am not sure where the 'boring' style of play opinions come from.

Haven’t watched that yet mate will take a look when I get some time but I’ve watched them probably more than your average joe because I’m a degenerate gambler - they play really direct football. It’s high intensity, more fouls to disrupt the opponent, try and win the ball high up the pitch and play direct balls over the top or into channels. They’re happy to not have the ball a bit reminiscent of THAT Leicester team when I’ve watched them

Is direct balls over the top what we’re wanting? I’d assume we’re more possession based if anything.

Maybe that’s because I’ve just grown used to Mowbray football.

it's not always that it's just another option of passing, they don't just put it over the top all the time, I think the more direct, and aggressive press would work well with our squad

I want it all. We should adapt to who we play, not just rely on one way. Mostly I'd want the way we play now just with early switches and balls in the box. But I'm a fan and I know absolutely nowt about tactics so I'll leave it to the pros
