Allsop Jones Morton Honourable mention for all the subs that brought energy to the side in the second half... and to Liam for having a plan B
Slater Allsop Jones Honourables for Connolly, Vinagre, Tufan and Traore. The rest were not at the races. Even Morton wasn't at his usual best, but we really struggle without proper wide players.
Allsop Jones Slater Honourable for Vinagre. Certainly showed us what was missing in the game. Great tenacity going forward.
1 Allsop 2 Slater 3 Jones Special mention to Vinagre and Tufan they where game changers. That's more like the Tufan we like, hustling and bustling and a quality goal that was well placed with confidence. Great win. If not a great performance. UTT.
Slater Jones Greaves Allsop not in my top three as he cannot hold on to a shot (he said tongue in cheek).
Allsop Jones Morton Nods to Connelly (didn't quite happen but not for lack of effort) and to subs especially Vinagre. Dishonourable mention to Rosenior for a **** Plan A, but at least Plan B somehow got us the result.
Jones - standout defender for me, courageous and deserved his TV m.o.m award Allsop - crucial saves when it mattered most Slater/ Morton - couldn't split em, both very workmanlike, albeit both loose in possession at times. Not the best performance, but grafted hard, typified by Coyle.
Slater - if it had been based on the first half alone, he would have been the only one to have got a vote, as he was the only one who looked like making anything happen. Jones Allsop
Problem is, if Rosenior just abandons all our principles and ideas long term when he gets injuries the team will suffer long term vs short term. If we have 2 wide players fit yesterday we win comfortably, we beat most teams when we have 2 wide players available. The balance is very off at the minute with injuries, props to Rosenior for not abandoning his principles. No top teams do when they get injuries. January can’t come soon enough.
He did abandon his principles. Plan A last night was a mess. He could have kept the same shape and tactics, with for example Vinagre and Connolly (or Delap or Vaughan) replacing the wingers, but we were all over the place first 60.
We were still playing out from the back, principles goes way beyond how the 11 players on the pitch are in a formation.
