Just watched the replay. What a lovely round. Hardly touched a twig and a lovely jump at the last, completely outjumping the fav. Nice ride by the 7lb claimer

There were two horses in the field who had a bit of class and, typically, I picked the wrong one of the two <doh>. Top weight absolutely skated it, impressive performance.

Thanks fellas. Nice to have a decent horse on our hands. He jumped beautifully today and he will be even better over the big fences.
    Exciting times ahead.

I'm not much good at this Tam. I started doing a summary of the race but it was beginning to look like bed time story so I gave up <laugh>. I find it difficult to see Rebel's Romance getting beat. His last 2 runs can be ignored. Prior to that he was coming off a 140 day break when finishing 11l behind the World's highest rated horse. He was 7.5l behind the resurgent Westover that day in a very fast time. On that form alone he looks an absolute banker. Prior to that he had completed a hat trick of G1 wins

Re Elegant Man, it was only a maiden he won, it wasn't a good time and he has a further 1.5f to go tonight. However, when a horse wins so easily it is impossible to know what they are capable of so Elegant man has to be feared; enough to be put off backing the fav at current odds

Salt Bay is outclassed and this is tough after his recent effort.

Goldspur I think will be found out over 12f. His 3rd to Westover flattered him. Westover was far from at his best in what was a very slowly run race

Max Vega looks the only other danger, if only because he has Laura Pearson on his back for the first time

So it's the fav for me, and if he drifts at all (say 4/5), he becomes a solid bet for me with Buick re-united

Just logged in, is stick/Nass's horse rock danser? Congrats on the win gents, may he give you plenty of good times, wins, places and exciting memories ;)
Out of interest gents, what is rough cost of being part of syndicate? Start up costs & monthly outlay? TIA

Well, it’s very different depending on syndicate size and trainer. Ours has 8 shares, so we had cost of the horse plus training fees per month.

We are all putting in 300 a month, which covers costs (and there are loads!). All prizemoney goes back into the pot, so thankfully we’ve got a decent contingency now.

It is a costly business, but I’m fortunate the yard is close by, I get to go up when I want and the lads in the syndicate trusted me to make a call about yesterday (although @stick found the race), as we could have gone elsewhere.

For me that makes it worth the money and then some, but I do think we are in a fortunate position.

A belated well done to Nass and Stick with Rock Danse. Just watched the race and did it nicely. I thought you’d been advised soft ground wasn’t ideal too so if so much more to come on better going?
