It's another away day and apparently the Ref is an idiot based on the last time he did the deed in an Argyle match, Ipswich away. So, we stand little or no chance of being anything other than dicked out of sight. Well that's the theory anyway but as you know I am much more enthusiastic of our chances than that. We can do it at last and start a run of wins to take us to the promised land and beyond. (I must stop sniffing that stuff) COYG
Argyle and Rotherham are the only two teams in this division who have yet to win away. A couple of weeks back I would have been quite optimistic that we could win this one. BUT all of a sudden QPR are winning games.....three on the trot....something we can only dream about. Last years Div One Champions.....that was us by the way....seems a long time ago now....had a good away record.....Won11.....Drawn 7.....Lost 5.....a total of 40pts. This season we have achieved only 3pts away from home.....Won 0.....Drawn 3 .....Lost 7.....Goals for 7.....against 19......how on earth can we suddenly be such rubbish. At the moment if we where offered a draw I would take it.
Michael Cooper might be missing for this game......received a knock on his right leg at Leicester.......not training yesterday.....having a dead leg has been mentioned.
Well I think this piece makes a few valid points. https://argyle.life/first-team/leicester-vs-argyle-foxes-go-nuts-at-the-kp/ Specifically: The goals – to me – sum up Argyle’s issues perfectly. Too easy, of our own making, and in many ways, products of our system. The back four, with full-backs that invert is modern, in vogue, and attacking (and Man City do it.) The inverted fullbacks are supposed to create overloads in midfield and aid possession retention, but time after time, we give the ball away far too cheaply. And when we do – it’s us that are overloaded. That was in full effect for two of Leicester’s goals, where you could see Edwards or Pleguezuelo miles up the field. So the argument to be less expansive when we’re away from home and keep our full-backs tucked in is getting louder. That would be deviating from our style, but with 0 away wins at the halfway stage, it may be necessary.
Agree with the above.......Bali Mumba should never be allowed anywhere near our penalty area..... he doesn't understand what the word...DEFENDING means. He scored a great own goal recently...taking the ball literally out of Coopers hands.
Supposed to be eight changes tonight.....but it does look more like our best eleven...... accept for Cooper being out....but Hazard should fill in okay.
Red Card.....Dan Scarr....25 minutes......0-0. This might get difficult now. 28 minutes.....Azaz off and Pleguezuelo on.
Not long switched on so took a bit of catching up. Seems we started like a train and had them rocking when the red mist decended and we lost Scarr. So, playing for 70+ minutes with only 10 then a point seems a result.
This will be categorised as a point gained but actually I think it’s two points lost. We started much the better side and it looked like only a matter of time before we scored . Hardie’s like my glasses, never where you left him and although there weren’t close misses he looked too hot to handle for QPR. Then came the red card which naturally changed the entire game. There’s a two footed tackle on Houghton 25 yard out from our goal. Houghton sees it coming and sort of straddles it without going down. So the ref plays on after what was a very poor tackle and potentially a yellow card. The ball runs to their attacker who because of the foul has a run on Scarr when we should have been taking a free kick. Scarr does swing a foot at him too high but it’s from the side and not particularly dangerous. Certainly a foul, although no worse than the one on Houghton, and probably a yellow but the ref goes for a straight red. The only consistent thing about this season’s reffing is the inconsistency. After that QPR huffed and puffed but in truth didn’t produce too many hearts in mouth moments. Schumacher made substitutions and we weathered the storm pretty well. Miller and Randell were excellent when they came on. Galloway and Gibson were strong throughout. We just aren’t getting much luck away from home but this at least shows we can defend when we set our minds to it. Perhaps we should practice it for the first 20 minutes of our next away game….
Just watched the video.....some of those early chances we had should have been goals....poor finishing.
Just read something on pasoti that made me go look at the matchday moments vid. It was about the red card for Scarr. The poster said look at the reaction of the QPR player during and after the tackle so I did The player takes the contact and does a Neymar style roll over the ground somewhere around three to four times then lies there clutching his leg. The Ref cojes in with his red card almost already out of his pocket. The QPR player then gets a tap to tell him the result of his acting up and immediately gets up with no apparent injury at all. So, conned the Ref or did'nt? I know what I think .
