He's always been streaky in terms of goals while here so wouldn't surprise me at all if he went on a little run now. Plus the transfer window is coming up
Last time I was there I believe we went 1 up in the first few mins, hung on for 90 and Dion Dublin scored an equaliser in added time Bought Charity Dripping in a pub on the way home (really!!!) and mates wife stole a spoonful from the fridge when we got back thinking it was Crème Brulee I can still hear the retching noises
Both this game and our weekend game against Blackburn our opponents get an extra days rest on us. Not ideal! Really hope Downes is back available. Nice to hear his dedication on TSP about the Watford game. Travelling up separately and staying in a hotel to make himself available if he managed to get better enough in time for the game. Unfortunately he wasn't, but love the commitment and desire to be involved! Another unfortunate thing from our perspective is that we keep coming up against these more mid table teams when they are bang in form and confident. We will need to be on our game (and ideally a bit more clinical) to come away with the 3 points. Just noticed that Coventry have only lost once at home all season too, but have drawn 5!
Tough game with Cov’s home form but starting to feel like we need to win every game if we want to get top 2. Think it will be very similar to the Watford game with few chances in the game, think a draw most likely but we might win or lose by a single goal
One of my first ever memories of an away game was Highfield Road. Think we lost and vaguely remember Gary Macalister playing well for Coventry and good old Ogrizovic in goal. Also have a very fond memory of beating them comfortable at the Dell when they spent out big money on Chippo and Hadji. Football was so much better back then!
Reading the comments, it seems the result a little harsh on Watford. However, they got the job done, which we were unable to manage and from a goal down. So maybe just a little humbling.
Watford were looking the more likely to get the winner, imo, but then our old friend Wesley Hoedt had a heavy touch and gifted the Ipswich player a one on one with the keeper. A bit of good fortune for Ipswich but credit for their resilience and for taking the chance when presented to them. Hopefully we will be creative and clinical tonight.
