Good point mate and someone else said simular before think it was @Scout73. And got to agree with both of you can't see Hellberg going there if he was still on the shortlist for Sunderland job.
Will Still be ok with our recruitment policy? That’s the big question for me. He can say he is but down the line…. Mind, I don’t think any new head coach should be under any illusions that we are suddenly going to start buying experienced players.
There's an article on inside futball which I can't copy and paste but it seems KLD has spoken to Will Still. I think if Still has spoken to the boss there must be every chance he must be interested in our project. You will find the article on News Now Sunderland
Sunderland Doing Everything To Attract Chosen Manager, Club’s Chairman Makes Case Sunderland are doing everything they can to tempt Reims coach Will Still to take the manager’s post at the Stadium of Light, with the 31-year-old the man they want. The Black Cats recently raised some eyebrows when they sacked experienced boss Tony Mowbray and they are now hunting his successor. They look to have settled on Reims boss Still as the man they want to come in to take the reins at the club. Sunderland chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has already spoken to Still in an attempt to sell the move to him and, according to Belgian daily DH, the Black Cats are doing everything to tempt him to England. It is suggested that Louis-Dreyfus put a number of interesting arguments to Still as to why he should say yes to Sunderland. However, Reims have not yet given up on keeping hold of Still. The French side are looking to convince the 31-year-old to stay, though there are disagreements between the club and Still about the approach to the upcoming January transfer window. Still currently has Reims sitting in eighth spot in the Ligue 1 standings, but they have lost three of their last five games. Reims are next due to face Lens in Ligue 1 and it remains to be seen if Still will be in charge for the clash. Sunderland Working Overtime To Tempt Will Still To Take Charge (insidefutbol.com)
This is just personal opinion so I could be way off here but I think Still will be much more open to the 'model' as he will be very familiar with the players we target, especially the french based ones. Mowbray liked his British based players and trusted them more than the signings from abroad, examples being Ekwah who he played consistently despite a poor start to his career here and he seemed to prefer Burstow over the other forwards. His signings throughout his career at Blackburn suggest he preferred signing players based in the UK also. Will Still however will obviously be more familiar to French based players so will be more open to having little power as he will know the targets anyway.
Don't have any idea who the new manager will be ,whoever it is will have my backing, But if it is will still (nobody knows how it will work out)whatever happens you can't fault KLD Speakman and the board for effort and ambition
Usually when this sort of info is leaked it’s about to be announced. I’m probably making that up cos am bored with waiting and not in the least inpatient.
That's my take on it too mate. Hellberg one of 3 interviewed, then we have informed him that we have gone for one of the other options, so Hellberg decides to join Hammerby.
Hellberg was linked to Hammarby a week ago and then Swedish reports said he had turned them down. Now he’s going there and Still news is leaking out. Seems very plausible that we were interviewing both and have made our minds up today.
I’m going to offer another scenario. What if Still has today agreed to come at end of season. That would potentially explain the rumours of Dodds until end of season, in addition to Hellberg taking Hammarby job. Hope it’s now in obviously
