I have no idea if we are good or bad any more. If I was listing adjectives to describe us I would include: Frustrating Blunt Technical Dominant Unconvincing Fragile (Un)ruthless Skilful Frightened Dogmatic Rigid Anything could happen on Wednesday - but if we play 30 minutes at 70% possession without a single shot again I will be turning it off.
A trip to Coventry and hopefully we will come away with more than lady Godiva I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky Like a tiger, defying the laws of gravity I'm a racing car passing by Like Lady Godiva i'm going to go go go There's no stopping me. Don't stop us now! COYR
Coventry City v Southampton (19:45) Referee: BEN TONER Assistants: George Byrne and Sam Lewis Fourth Official : Josh Smith
We are such a weird team. No doubt we look better and more solid now. But at the expense of all creativity & threat. Can we find a balance?
Last time we were in NZ, we hit a period of excellent form as we were flying back So that’ll be the Blackburn game I think we’ll scrape a win for this one We’ll be ‘watching’ via text
Looking forward to going back to Coventry (said no one ever) for this one. Last time I was there, it was for JWP's first pro goal (yes, really!)
My first visit to Coventry I was walking on an overpass over the pedestrian precinct and put my head through the railings to look down Couldn’t get it out again and we had to call the fire brigade to release me COYS
Despite a stoppage time equaliser in the last game Loading still has the players on his side and continues what must surely be a Match Day Thread record of unbeateness. All hail to the Loading. Don't have any stories to tell about Coventry as I've never been there. In the head to head there's nothing exceptional as you might expect as Coventry v Saints is not really one to get the pulse racing IMO. Except; In 1982 we had a 5-5 draw. This one actually is quite interesting as we went from 2-4 down to 5-4 up only to let in a last minute equaliser. (Shock) In 1958 we scored 7. Tragically for me, there are two players in that 1958 Saints team that I have actually seen play. Tommy Traynor and John Sydenham. In1984 we scored 8. Steve Moran hattrick, Danny Wallace hattrick. Thankfully, eight was enough to see us hold on for the win. In 2012 we beat Coventry 4-0 to secure promotion back to the Premier League. It's a little known fact that Saints got fined after the match for having 30,000 unregistered players on the pitch including Mrs Game and me. She scored a late goal from a diving header in a crowded goalmouth. All the above was at The Dell and St Mary's, nothing memorable has ever happened at Coventry. Games won 48 Games drawn 45 Games lost 49
Highfield Road is one of my earliest memories of away days. We went to Warwick castle in the morning and Pizza Hut after the game. Great day. I think we’ll smash em 0-1
Can I put in an early request to be 3 up at halftime. Correction make that 4 up Or 5 What’s a safe score ? Just asking for my hearts sake
I'm with you there Fran, my old ticker could do with a cruise to a comprehensive victory. Who knows what score is safe? We are the Saints and well able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I'll be wearing my expletive laden tee shirt underneath a black Saints polo ready to pull up to display the exclamation should it all go Pete Tong.
We're very good at home. Iffy away. So hopefully playing in the red n white will trick our players into thinking we're at St. Mary's. A brace for Che. Time for his redemption arc to start.
