Great win keeps up the pressure on top two, need Ipswich to lose now, so c'mon Boro. Off to work now so chat to you all later
Good three points against a difficult team. And with West Brom losing, it increases the gap between the top four and the chasing pack.
Not quite at the races today, control let us down but quality when we needed it. I didn't think either of their penalty shouts were good.
Meslier - 6. Quick off his line a couple of times and a save for the camara in a fairly quiet game. Doesn't inspire confidence when high balls are thrown in to his 6 yard area. He's OK if he doesn't have any saves to make. Gray - 7. Another solid performance at right back. Made the 2nd goal brilliantly. Needless yellow for kicking the ball away. Rodon - 7. Solid enough. Not as commanding as recent performances. Struijk - 6. Back to being more aggressive and had a much better game. Lucky to not give a penalty away a couple of times. Byram - 6. Went off injured last quarter of the game. Another solid if unspectacular performance. Did his defensive duties well. Ampadu - 6. Decent but a long way off the form of the first three months of the season. Kamara - 6. Another who didn't hit the heights of recent performances. Adequate enough either way (just). Piroe - 7. Had numerous chances after picking up intelligent positions to create chances but often took the wrong option. Worked really hard off the ball defensively. James - 8. Another goal, another tireless performance and was a handful with his running behind often not recieving the pass. Summerville - 7. Similar to James but just couldn't quite find the same space. Scored the all important 2nd goal. Rutter - 7. Hit and miss game but still grabbed an assist for James. A handful and often fouled. Subs. Gnonto - 6. Hit the bar. Nothing much else. Spence - 6. Looked rusty but useful minutes gained. Lots of potential. Anthony - 5. Got 10 minutes or so but didn't feature on the ball. Joseph - n/a. Last few minutes. Put himself about a bit. Gruev - n/a. Last few minutes to shore things up.
It's an excellent result but I think excellent performance is stretching it. We were okay at best. The positive out of that is that its league winning stuff to play pretty average and still win 2-0 away from home.
Didn’t see the game. Good result… Blackburn’s results blow hot and cold but they’ve been playing decent football. We have a tough little run of fixtures before Christmas. Starting mid-week at Sunderland. They carry a real threat. Then Coventry who’ve now found some form, before the crunch game with Ipswich.
Another fantastic 3 points today and we're now churning out the wins on such a regular basis that some fans are become a little bit blase about what it takes to go to places like Blackburn and secure the win. The other thing is we're now showing a very good consistency of perfomance, every game is now following a similar pattern as we seek to allow our better players to win the match whilst the defence and in particular Rodon & Struijk look to keep things as tight as possible at the back. For the record only one Championship team has conceded less than our 20 goals this season and only two teams have outscored us as we continue to improve.
I thought the same until this season and now use it regularly. Free streams can be good too (Ben keeps trying to get me to watch the dodgy tv because he has paid for it) but, tbh, for the consistent quality I don’t begrudge paying the club a tenner to watch live
