Yeah, but you forgot to mention that ETH gave Sancho a break to sort his head and he was supposed to come back refreshed and raring to go.

He didn't, he threw it back in the club's face.

That's not on ten Hag, that's all on Sancho. How was ETH supposed to know he would return with the very same stinking attitude?

He tried to push him out of the club, it's only because he wanted to fight for his place that he isn't at West Ham. And the only reason he was 'goven a chance' is because your defence injury list meant even Jones got games.

Because it is the manager's job to know. You can't have too much patience with players with the wrong attitudes. If it had been known internally that Sancho was not the right fit, we should have put him up for sale. I have a distinct issue with shooting ourselves in the foot. Pay a bucket load of cash for players, only to end up begging for teams to take them.

BTW, I want to see Sancho in the team. I like the player and what he brings to the team. I think it's a real shame that he's been out cold while the team struggles. But yes, attitude certainly comes first before talent. If the attitude stinks, then he should have been long gone! ETH needs to get better at making those calls. Be absolutely decisive!

Yes well done, he was given a chance because of injuries. The point is he made the most of it and deserves to be playing.

Have you ever considered the posibility that under the current set up ETH may not have the power to make those calls?

    Maybe so, maybe not!

But if ETH had enough leverage to get the players he wanted, then I'm inclined to believe that he had equal leverage to sway the board to sell the players he deemed not the right fit.

Regardless, I am confident that lessons learned in the last transfer window will not be lost on the manager as Ratcliffe creates a new operating structure. He certainly will not allow paying insane salaries to underperforming rats.

He didn't have leverage, it's just that no other fcker is competent enough to source the players, so no doubt it's been dumped on him.

But when it comes to selling, the decision is made upstairs because that's all about the $$$$

Btw we did try and sell Sancho in the summer. Nobody wanted him.

    Newcastle & Spurs both lose.

We're above the first and level on points with the second.

They play each other next so one or both drop points.

    We play Bournemouth.

    We really need to win.

You couldn’t make this up. Teams that pundits are showering with praise while we are allegedly stricken in crisis.

Certainly the most intriguing season in some time.

In fairness we haven't beat anyone of note yet, even the games we have won have mostly been by the odd goal.

We have had some good/great performances yet not really looked convincing with the lack of goals to back them up. Still in a good position to make an impact on top 4 if the strikers actually start putting the chances away though.

It looks almost like a psychological block. We disposed of Chelsea because we believed that we were better and should beat them. And we still do not look “convincing “even we won as many matches as the top 4.

I was looking at this, we don't draw games. Or at least we haven't this season.

The difference between us and City in the results is they've had 3 draws.

It may seem like just 3 points but it's not just the points, it makes a big difference in terms of psychology. To turn 3 losses into 3 draws has an impact.

You also have to look at the goals for and against, (just look at the top 7 because after that the against rises quickly)
Our goals against is comparable with all but the top 2 but the goals for is pathetic.

got to admit i read it as "really beat" :emoticon-0111-blush

however "nearly beat" is about as useful as "nearly virgin" :bandit:

Of course. Means they've only been defeated twice whilst we've been 5 times. Also giving the opposition 2 extra points. As was said earlier our attack is pathetic. How we can miss these easy chances is incomprehensible. We used to have a history of ruthless strikers like RVN, RVP Coley. Now our frontmen seem to freeze in front of goal. Cannot believe our defence (Maguire anyone?) is saving our bacon.

And Villa play Arsenal. IF we do get those points (shouldn't really count our chickens !!!) any result will be favourable.

Well, Ten Hag and Maguire have won the manager and player of the month awards. As much as we want to discount the recent form as not noteworthy because we got them against “pointless teams”, no other team has been able to win all the games against those very teams.

Ten Hag's Manchester United had a 100 per cent winning record and were the only team not to drop a point, earning victories in all four matches against Fulham, Luton Town and Everton.

They were also the only side to go the whole month without conceding a single goal”

It should be noted that no goals were conceded in those games which coincides with the time Maguire came back into the team (yeah, yeah, Chief is going to say that I told you so).

The point is that we need to firmly keep things in perspective. When we are not complaining about the style of play, we would complain about the goal difference.. all to confirm to ourselves that we are simply just shyte compared to other crème de la crème of the league. Many will discount beating Chelsea even though most top teams have struggled against them recently.

The league table suggests that this year is different. Teams at the lower end of the league are no longer there to make up the count. And if you can pick up 3 points against anyone, then it is all that matters.

If ETH can get some breathing room and only play players on form and not on reputation, we can at least get some consistent performances in the next 23 matches.
