What's the CL situation with United? Will a draw do?

united have by their standards been poor of late, they need a vintage performance tomorrow night for the fans, and what better than a match against Benfica!? that will show the rest of the country, europe, and our noisy neighbours that is just exactly what they are! :) and WE are the football team from manchester

Same team, different length of particle beam. They've basically ruled out one of the many possible sources of systematic error. Gonna take a lot more testing before the scientific community are convinced that the results are reliable and valid. Then the explanation phase will start.

In absolute terms yes, but for Liverpool finishing 6th in the league would definitely be an average result, particularly given how much you should have improved from last year. If you compare Arsenal and Spurs' summers with Liverpool's then you guys should be way ahead of them right now.

No, not really. We need to win to make sure.

I meant Liverpool are better than that, not you. Clearly a misunderstanding there. I think Liverpool have the potential there to improve but have appeared average of late and maybe I shouldn't just base it on 'of late'. I haven't seen a truly impressive performance from them this season but I could be wrong.

Chelsea, though, are ageing before our very eyes and they can't say they weren't warned. If was blinding obvious that their four most important players, Lampard, Drogba, Terry and Cech are on a very slippy slope.

Draw will probably only be good enough for second place - we can assume Benfica will hammer Galuti in the last match and we would have to match their scoreline against Basle away. And if we do only draw, then if Basle beat us in Switzerland we'll drop into the Europa. But if we win this match then we top the group on head to heads no matter what happens in the last match (I think).

It's as close to a must win as possible.

They've had some impressive performances, but haven't really matched them to impressive results. They put in good performances against Stoke, Sunderland and Norwich, bossing large parts of those games, and created plenty of chances but didn't finish them off and dropped points. Oddly enough their wins have come in games where they weren't so impressive, like against Chelsea, Wolves, Arsenal and Everton.

Thought as much. It'll need to be engraved in titanium for me to accept that E = MC2 is wrong.

Liverpool's away results compared to their home results suggests that they are still more comfortable counter attacking than breaking teams down.
AVB played right into that yesterday pushing too hard for a winning goal - perhaps a bit of naivity from managing a dominant team in Portugal.

As for neutrinos, my instinct is that they are not breaking the light-speed limit, but instead somehow taking a shorter path.

I did a quick elementary school comparison though and the proportion of the time saved would appear to be larger than the distance saved by ignoring the curvature of space caused by the mass of the Earth, so I'm probably talking crap.
This hypothesis could be tested by sending the neutrinos through the center of the earth to a detector on the other side - I think. This kind of stuff makes my brain a bit fuzzy.

I firmly believe that drinking beer slows down time.. when in the pub. I think the more beer consumed the slower time becomes. Half an hour in the boozer to anyone on the outside I think equates to at least two hours in real time. A theory called the pub time continuom...

examples of this bizarre feat of nature are evident almost every weekend where the more booze you consume the slower time itself becomes.. what you get in your own mind popping to the pub for a swift three pints then announcing to your mates that your going to suprise the mrs and be home by 8pm, you get your coat thusly walking out of the pub, breaking the pub time continuom only to look at your watch and realise it is infact 1am an you will be locked out and sleeping on the sofa and or pavement outside your house.

I'm still suffering now... 12 hour drinking session saturday... no assistance from columbia either.. not sure how i managed it to be honest.. was having shots forced down me, think my mate stitched me up with some grappa, sambuca, tequila, jager on top of my own body weight of Rum and ginger.. and a bottle wine a few pints of Old Rosie.. The good lady drank the same also but substituted the rum for gin..

Well that explains it then. We just have to breathalyse the neutrinos at the end of the run to make sure they didn't detour via the pub and slow down time.

Your Nobel prize is in the post sweats <ok>

    Thpught I'd share this gem form hammersmithblue on the Chelsea site;

What United actually traditionally do is not lose any games after the turn of the year and win the league but I'd hate to piss on his chips too much.
