As far as the game went, I enjoyed it. 2 good teams and as is often the case 2 or 3 key moments make the difference. We didn't deserve to lose the game, but sometimes this happens, you are the better team, but things just don't fall your way.

IMO a poor penalty by Jaden, not enough pace on the ball.

For their winning goal, great bit of quick thinking on their behalf, so credit to Hoedt for that, who had a very good game for them.

IMO Allsop firstly should have retreated quicker once Delap lost the ball, but even so, I think he thought it was going onto the roof of the net, so misjudged it. What also annoyed me was his reaction, trying to blame someone else for the situation, it's as if he knew he made a mistake but wanted to try and push the blame onto others. Of course, only he knows, but that what it looked like to me.

Delap was excellent, and I don't blame him for losing the ball, he tried to get us moving forward quickly, but the move did come off. Morton had another good game, and Twine was also good.

Just one of these games where you play well, but like with Twine shot which looked to be goal bound and hit Jaden, things just didn't fall for us.

Onto QPR, they seemed to have improved under their new coach, so it won't be an easy game, but let's hope we can get a result.

I think you’re spot on here, for me he made four mistakes,
    • He didn’t react when the ball was lost in midfield and took too long to retreat.
    • He then misjudged the flight of the ball.
    • He didn’t even attempt to make the save which is just poor.
    • Then probably worst of all, he blamed others because he was embarrassed and wanted to save face, not what you want from a senior player.
I think his distribution is pretty solid, it’s got even better in recent games now he’s not been afraid to go direct, but as others have pointed out, we’ve conceded 5 goals in 3 games and he should have done better for all of them.

Some of us really are desperate for a scapegoat.

    It's the championship.

    We haven't been ****.

    We haven't lost ground.

No he wasn't, his trailing foot was on the line when the ball was struck. I filmed it and watched it back.

I dont see the nucleus of this team changing in the short term. Barring injuries the starting line up will remain much the same moving forward and that includes signings in January who will likely be 60 minute onward additions to try and change or hold onto a game. Even allowing for Rotherham this week, someone is going to get a tonking sometime soon. At dramas would be good. I do agree on the Philogene point, whist he is the talisman so to speak, someone just needs to have a word and say TEAM and next time no, you cant take the penalty should have been in Delaps hands all day long.

I think as fans, we are allowed to suggest ways we can improve. Especially when the margins will be fine between top 6 and not (I know some of you would be happy with Top 10, but I personally wouldn’t with this squad).

My opinion is that Ingram is a solid keeper and we’ve only had Darlow in recent times, who is better.

Allsopp is having a bad run of form and is making mistakes, which are costing goals/points. How long do you stick with that?

There have also been more mistakes where we have given the ball away from using Allsopp more because he is good with his feet and we been very lucky not to have been punished. This goes unnoticed because we haven’t conceded.

But please don’t think I’m saying Allsopp is bad. He is a decent keeper and his distribution can be excellent. But I believe Ingram is the better choice and always have.

Gutted to have lost today, but that is the Championship. I came away thinking they (Watford) are a good team, which I seem to have done every home game (except the obvious two). It is just a fantastic league.
I thought we deserved to win, but sometimes you just have to recognise good play. Two pieces of brilliance by them won the game. I didn’t think Philo’s was a bad penalty. If you hit it that hard inside the post, you expect to score. If we had scored that winner, we would be saying what a worldie. It was an outrageous piece of skill, which they had practiced for when they play teams who set up as we do. No blame can be attached to Allsop. Often, your strengths are also your weaknesses.
Overall, Gutted but happy with how we played. It’s a pleasure to watch and to see this young team, led by a young manager learning very quickly. I never expected us to be challenging for play offs this season.
i suspect the big three will probably go up (Ipswich may have other ideas) this season, with three relative weaker teams coming down, so we should target next season. Do everything we can to keep the three youngsters for another season and watch them develop.

Connolly, when he's come on during the last few games, has looked a shadow of the player we saw at the start of the season. He doesn't even look a threat at the minute.

In fairness to Connolly,10-20 minute cameo roles are not going to bring out the best in him?

He needs to be starting games alongside Delap, which in itself would give opposition defences some real headaches.Problem is,we don't seem to be able to accommodate them both in our current set-up.

I don’t think it’s scapegoating, it’s just analysing a players performance and rightly pointing out where they cocked up, it’s what football fans do.

Most are grateful for the position the team are in, it’s just frustrating when you get a game like that, most will be over it today!

He was coming on at the same stage of games earlier in the seasons as well, Blackburn the prime example and looked a real handful, winning the game for us

He 'came on' against Blackburn with a quarter of the game remaining and scored 2 goals, essentially won us the game, that seems to me the only example?.That game aside, off the top of my head,I can't recall any other examples of him coming on late and salvaging points?

I'm simply pointing out that in my opinion he's wasted warming the bench and I'm not sure him coming on for 10-20 minute cameo roles would've formed part of the discussions Rosenior had with him when he asked him to come onboard?

I value the input of Delap,he's strong and very difficult to disposses,he serves an extremely valuable purpose but in my opinion he needs a constant attacking companion playing alongside him...It's obvious to me that's Connolly and IMO it would yield goals.

Just a bit of gossip. Rosy together with some of the coaching staff were in Wetherspoons Beverley yesterday evening.
He posed for a photo with my Granddaughter ( Who is a passholder/member, as are 5 of us in my family ) He looked pretty happy.

I think we’ll sign a winger who’ll replace Lokilo as soon as he’s match fit and probably a starting left back as well, you don’t sign players in January just to pad out the squad.

Meant to add about Acun’s kind gesture yesterday, haven’t seen anyone mention it. Apparently, there was a free round of drinks for everyone in The Dug Out bar ahead of the game yesterday! He was filming something about a day in the life of a football club owner. I didn’t go, only heard about it after the event, during the game. :headbang:People in the know? We missed a trick, if we’d been tipped off, we could have organised a not606 shindig, Acun welcome party?! No, on second thoughts perhaps not one of my better ideas…..I’ll get m’coat & thermals!
