1-0! Saka! Nice to get an early goal and made our early dominance count. Some really intricate wing play from Saka, lovely hold up by Jesus, nice lay off by Tomi and a composed finish by Saka for the opener. Top stuff.
Oof. Almost 3-0. Lovely weighted pass from Odegaard into Trossard who almost gets onto the end of it but stumbles and Sa blocks the shot.
Jesus in front of goal in the Premier League and in the Champions League is like two different players. He’d wasted two decent chances this half.
HT. 2-0. Complete control, excellent football, good structure and fluidity in our rotations. Lovely stuff. My only two negatives are: 1) we became a bit sloppy in the final moments of the half. Zinchenko showing why he’s such an asset when we attack, but a huge liability when defending. I don’t know what happened to him in the final moments of the game. Bizarre errors which thankfully didn’t cost us. 2) we should have scored more goals. We were so dominant, it should have probably been 3-0/4-0. Hopefully they don’t get a goal in the second half to halve the deficit otherwise it’ll be nervy and that’s not what we deserve.
2-1. Cunha bends one in. Annoying as we’d totally blitzed Wolves first half and we’ve been very disjointed in the second half. All these missed chances have come back to haunt us. Eddie’s just missed a chance he really should have put away to seal the game
Four points clear, take that you slags. Can't decide if I want spurs to take an absolute mauling tomorrow, a draw to cause both to drop points or spurs to win to get city as far back as possible. Decisions.
2-1. FT. Struggling to make sense of that. We were in control of the game and should have won this waaayy more comfortably. Zinchenko is such a useful player in build up, but his defensive deficiencies really are a huge problem for us. And it was evident for that Cunha goal. We need to address this. Really hope Tomiyasu’s injury isn’t serious. Nonetheless, we got the win in the end and we now go 4 points clear at the top.
Looks like Tomiyasu’s injury is worse than initially feared. Not what we need to see when we’re heading into a very busy festive period.
