I'm afraid I find it very hard, in fact impossible to be doom and gloom for more than 48 hours, no it does not mean everything is fine it just means that being full of dread all week changes nothing and just makes me depressed, cant see any point in that. In all honesty I think we have a decent team who are short on strikers, short on confidence and short on luck. We can now spend the day or even the week saying yes but whose fault is that but will it change it, no. For me there is only one thing to do, look at the positives, do my bit on Saturday, hope we win and turn things round and let Short worry about the manager. The positives I hear you say, are there any, well yes. We are 3 points off the top 10. Yes I know we are also 2 of the bottom three but I'm glass half full. We have a top class keeper and solid looking defence. We have some good midfield players and Larsson is back. Bendtner is still a good player, Sess still causes problems, Ji is a week better than last week and Noble is ready. I can see nothing other than a 4-4-2 or even a 4-3-3 on Saturday, if its not I will worry then about fact rather than worry all week about fiction. A win on Saturday, to me, will be 3 points for my team and a good day for me, not what I have read from others, a life line for Bruce,I repeat, Bruce and his future are for Short to decide on not me. So a positive week for me, hopefully on here.
But is it a case of all style and no substance? There will be no possibility of any kind of long term positives until there is a monumental shift in our current managers ability or until he is replaced. The former is never going to happen. The latter I hope happens before December is upon us. Then you will feel the positives return from the majority. Until then, we are struggling to find them.
I admire your optimism and positive outlook Syd. However we are (only) just treading water. Once the majority of a crowd turn on a manager there is no way back in my experience. A win against Wigan will only delay the inevitable. Short needs to act and replace the manager.
Dude, you couldn't buy a goal if your life depended on it. I'd be worried if I was you. Fulham are toothless, unless Dempsey and Johnson knick one or Zamora is ontop of his game, also they've been poor away from home for years. You really need to be beating the Fulhams right now.
Thing is syd we are closer to the bottom than the top half and, to get to the top half we have to win 1 game while all above us lose that is not going to happen this week so that'll be another week of people saying we are only 3 points from top ten. To put that into perspective we are below all 3 promoted teams. Got to admire your optimism though but, it'll be the same type of game as the last one with maybe a 1-1 scoreline instead of 0-0, at least we'll have a goal to shout about.
I see my task is bigger than I thought, my message is very clear even if missunderstood. In life you have choices and in my experience one choice makes you live life hapier than the other. First choice is, do we worry, get upset and fall out about things beyond our control, to me a pointless exceercise, or do we swear, shout, get it out and then get on with life until those in control act. I can spend all week shouting, stamping my feet, losing sleep and being very unhappy, it will change nothing. I had my shout on Saturday and Sunday and now prefer to fins ways to be happy until Saturday when it starts again. Cest talks of long term positives, this week is what I am talking about. Apone says Short needs to act, we have said that for the last 2 days but no matter how many times we say it Short will act when he acts Travelsick says we need to be beating Fulham, I agree but we didnt so move on Talc says we are nearer the bottom than top, I know that but cry as I may we will stay put until Saturday Simple message, enjoy what you can in life, tomorrow it may all be irrelivent
With you all the way .. I care deeply for our red and whites but why make yourself bad and rant over something you have absolutely no influence over.
As I posted before the Fulham game. SB will break his own neck so that Cattermole and Colback are in his side. He's a "we must not lose kind of manager". He couldn't be positive if he was wired to the national grid. He was happy with a ****e 0-0 against a team that also wasn't bothered about winning (though any point away from home is a good one) He will bring back Larson for Elmo and that will be it. He's getting paid to make decisions that any 7 year old boy could make. His time has been and his time really should have been well and truly over. I'm afraid my glass only has a bit of froth in the bottom and I'm waiting for a top up.
Spot on Syd... Now i'm in the Bruce oot camp, but can only say it so many times.. So i guess i'll not let it worry me to much, and plod on trying to enjoy the lifestyle i'm fortunate enough to lead.. Doesn't stop me thinking about the fundamental flaws at the club, but hey-ho ES is the man pulling the strings..
Agree with most of this Syd, you do have to look at the positives however, I think Bruce is now not the right man. We need someone with tactical nous (which I have said on numerous occassions). Why can't we get someone like Guus Hiddink, Otmar Hitzfeld etc... We have an owner with the money, we have the stadium & most of all we have the fans. I think there is a nucleus of a good team, but we do need some positions filled so really a top class manager would sort this and make everybody's glass full.
dont disagree but it will be when it is done. Its then that I will seriously look at who and even then will have no say.
