Hola! Clearly no one is brave enough to open a winning match thread. So, I’ll do! If you invert that image, you will see that Martial is playing in goal with back three of Rashford, Bruno, and Garnacho. We have Onana leading the line with Shaw in as a right winger.
I missed the first five minutes and missed that amazing goal. Like wow! That’s how you start a match winning thread!
Definitely need a second soon to settle the nerves. You'd think that goal would have sorted that but not yet unfortunately.
What's the obsession with keep going back to Onana? Why almost deliberately put yourself in the back foot having made such a good start. Ram the advantage home. One attacker in the bench too, Pellistri. The rest are defensive!
Luke Shaw made an immediate impact, great to have him back in the side, Mainoo had a brilliant game too. Bit by bit, player by player, we should hopefully improve but that was an impressive away win against a motivated side.
Nowhere near back yet mate but it is nice to see a bit of effort being put into games by some players.
You're getting wins at the end of the day. The weird thing is that by chance you'll be unfortunate enough to see an nufc side without two of our ****test players in Burn and Longstaff. I think Botman and Tonali aside Newcastle are actually full strength... miley is a very good player. Our bench is weak but 1st 11 isn't at all.
We're still all over the place, Shaw is back, the usual foil for Rashford, but Rashford played on the right to accommodate Garnacho today, plus Hojlund was missing and would have hugely benefitted from some of Shaw's crosses - so we wait for another day to see the pieces fall into place - but they are. Mainoo was excellent, and once we get Martinez back and our left side is restored to full strength we might see a few goals from Rashford who can't defend to save his life. .
You have a very strong first 11 as an attacking side and Miley looks a future star. That said, i think your defence can be got around easily so if on form we should score a couple.
We will probably get more injuries and illnesses when we lose to PSG so you need to believe in your side more.
Our performances are far from being decent yet we are getting wins. Luck maybe but sooner or later these players or at least some of them will have to start gelling and performing. If it’s just luck so far it won’t last. Do we want the team to perform “well” without getting points or do we want well below par performances with points? Spurs performed well apparently in their last 3 matches but were beaten and got no points.
It has to be points, personally I don't care about the manner of the win while the squad/club is in such a state of flux. Perhaps in time, with a few more additions/subtractions to the playing squad we can allow ourselves to be more concerned with the manner of the victory - but not for now.
