Well I won again. predictable le clerc 2nd. really pointless boring races for nothing at thr end and the records were meaningless. if you've double and treble the races and far more points that real driver and real teams then these are all just default records.
It was Dan’s birthday last weekend - I was at University with him, so pinged him a message. He hasn’t been at any of the last few races because “there’s too much work to do”, so am guessing he’s pedal to the metal on next year’s car.
Yes I think it’s fair to say their upgrades didn’t do what they wanted and they have been experimenting with old vs new parts I believe in recent weekends- hope they find their way back as Alonso is a beast and a they were superb at the season start. They will have the new factory at some point next season will they?
I always agreed with what Sur Jackie Stewart said . You can only really be compared with driver from your own era . As you point out , there are far too many Variables to be taken into account .
For what it's worth Max and Red Bull have swept all the percentage records as well. That's probably mostly an improved reliability thing though along with no intra-team rivalry to risk crashes. Other dominant cars have had much larger pace advantages
I'm starting to think that having very limited practice actually improves the race as no one really knows about race pace and how the tyres will perform.
Kept falling asleep during it after being up most of the night so will have to try watch it later. But thank God that's done and dusted. All but one race to RBR. Good grief.
Red Bull's advantage doesn't seem to be that large in peak performance interestingly. They've been often beatable in qualifying and hardly disappear immediately in the race. They seem to have some magic both in switching on the harder tyres and in keeping the softer tyres alive. I wonder if that's easier or harder for the others to catch up with compared to raw downforce
The problem is Red Bull haven't really developed this years car, they switch to the 2024 car very early plus they had their wind tunnel time limit 'punishment'. I think they will be fast straight from the first race in 2024.
Trouble is, when they get beaten to pole, it’s usually by CLC, who is quicker than the car should be over a single lap. But the car can’t then deliver that over multiple laps. It’s why the ridiculous stat they keep pulling about how few poles he’s converted to wins annoys me so much. It should be a credit to him, because he’s mighty in qualifying. It’s not his fault the car (and team) can’t sustain that pace.
Still haven't been able to watch the whole race. Been dealing with a sick pup and I just zone out every time I try. Maybe I'll get around to it before next season.
Can't see how it would hold your interest. Result for the race and season is known. Really hope next year is better. I won't manage another season of Max.
Watch the start in case someone takes Max out A couple of laps mid race got see if pit stops have made a difference Last lap to see if the RBR car breaks down a hundred yards from the finish line
