Another game against an attacking team. I never like going to SJP though, the barcodes can always pull something out the hat at home and this is the best Newcastle team probably since Keegan. They have had a Rocky start to the season, but we have had a start that is Rocky, Rocky 2 and half of the one with Mr. T in it! They have had some decent results lately, same as us, like turning over Arsenal. Our away form has been good and I think this will be a good barometer for how much we have improved. Gonna be super positive and predict a 1-3 victory for us.
Feel pretty confident as well. Can't see much need to change the last starting line up apart from injuries, though I'd have Colwill starting beside Silva not Disasi or Badashiel. Rest of them earn another start, and hope Poch uses his subs better and earlier than some of his earlier games.
I feel a lot more confident in our team now, than I did two games ago. I reckon previous comments have stated that we play well against the better teams and I think that is right, and has been proven thus far. I will be happy with a similar performance against the barcodes that we had against Citeh if we reach that level of intensity and press with the same enthusiasm the points will be ours. but expect a draw as our defence is not yet secure enough. Will agree with CP on the Colwill change if he is fit to play. In all the positives from the last two games there is however a few worries I have for the rest of the season that may hold us back. Sanchez scares me even though he made a few good saves on Sunday and the one against Haaland was excellent, I think his overall keeping abilities are not up to standard. Fernandez still looses the ball too close to his own box and wonder if he really is worth the money we paid for him as a defensive midfielder I don't like him getting the ball off the keeper just outside our box, he is not big enough to hold off a robust challenge in these situations, and looses out far too often, I wonder if a further up the pitch position would suit him better. Not sure if anyone else agrees but Colwill and James both have the skills and the mindset to become holding midfielders. Still have my doubts about cuckoorella, great running off the ball and did improve massively compared to his previous games but one swallow doesn't make a spring. Brighton H. Man U A. Everton A. Sheff U H. Next four league games may be the litmus test for us.
At James’s is a very tough place to go and Eddie Howe has Newcastle playing really well. Home advantage and our confidence being tough as a pink wafer, this was a pretty inevitable result. We didn’t play well though.
We were dreadful and defence was pub team level.Never seen Silva so clumsy. And we still don't know if Reece James can see out a full 90 mins !!! Not one bit impressed with Badashiel, he needs loaning out. Just wish we'd stick with Colwill as our CD and give him time to settle in, not keep trying to make him a left back.
