Of course I do, I said she was useless from the start ... ... do you think she did a good job and shouldn't have been booted out?
I think it's pathetic to call someone a moron who disagrees with your opinion. Personally I would never do that. I'm guessing your a leftie?
I don't think she did a bad job and I don't think she should have been sacked. Am I the only person who thinks that?
I never said that at all. I bolded the bit in your post that I was referring to in my reply You said, "Everyone is eligible for a council house or flat". So while someone homeless is waiting for their council house or flat that they are elegible to (your words), what they meant to do? Sleep rough? Sleep in a tent? What? Given the choice they would take the tent. It doesn't mean its a lifestyle choice, it just the best of the options some have.
I think you're all being naive if you think that a lot of people don't choose to live that way. Obviously a lot of people are genuinely homeless and in need. I'm not disputing that at all.
I really do not care. If you think she did a good job then that's fine but the country is a better place without her in a position of power and if you can't see that i'm really not sure what else to say.
So the people who are genuinely homeless, and in need.....is it right to take away a tent they are living in? You know, while they are waiting for their council house or flat they're eligible for to magically appear.
Where i work, with incredibly disadvantaged families, there's a 6 year waiting list for housing. Some of them it's self inflicted and they could do something about it, but for others it really isn't.
When I worked in housing it was not unusual for couples to wait more than 10 years for social housing.
i have said for a long time, it seems more and more tend to agree now...they HAVE to be made accountable and stop lying, either they do as they pledge and make promises they are able to keep or they should be like everyone else, do the job right or get sacked (although with the money most of them have it would not make any difference to the life style) ...'warmongering' should really carry a long prison sentence for causing many deaths and i honestly cannot decide what should happen about that sh1tshow of the covid crisis or even the major feck up of handling brexit. the rich of this society have been getting away with taking the p1ss for far too long, i would rather see a 'common' single mother in charge, at least she knows what it means to budget on a low income.
All she did was blow the dog whistle hoping the not so bright wouldn’t notice and dance to the whistle. You are still dancing away to her tune. Her rhetoric while in post was dangerous, divisive and a blatant appeal to some people’s fears and bigotry. It’s worked with a small minority only, thankfully and she’s rightfully been booted out Again, from a post she should never have been anywhere near.
That was an utterly vindictive suggestion by braverman - one that wouldn’t cross the mind of most normal people. Incredible how many vile characters we seem to have amongst us that agree with her. I’ve really had my eyes opened recently with how low some folks values are in this country and how we still have a big problem with racism in the U.K. - down to a lack of intelligence/education imo.
The BBC have realised that essentially telling half your prospective audience to piss off isn't good for viewing figures.
It's only fanatical Tories who could defend the likes of Braverman, Truss, Johnson, Hancock but they do, automatically ... ... they'll now defend Cleverly who's as bad as Braverman. He's now blaming the public and media for fixating on Rwanda despite Braverman describing it as her dream and obsession, not to mention the PM making it the flagship of his policy and spending £140m of our money pursuing it.
What exactly would you do then to curb immigration? It's an honest question. Or do you think we should do nothing and let it carry on the way it is? No matter what the government suggest it's wrong and are racist. What's Labours policy?
It’s one of those issues where you can’t win over everyone, just like the Gaza conflict. What certainly needs improving is the time it takes to process immigration requests as it’s taking way too long. Also there needs to be a curb on single males coming over from countries like Albania as that has gotten out of hand. Maybe some sort of deal with these countries to return them instead of dumping them in Africa. Albania recently offered tax breaks for any nationals returning from Britain for example.
I wouldn't say that, the aim of stopping illegal immigrants is quite reasonable ... ... I'm all for it and so are most people. However what they've done with Rwanda imo is not only wrong, morally and legally, it won't solve the problem and costs a fortune. I'd say Braverman is a racist hence this thread ... she tars entire nations with the same brush. Leaving Europe has made matters worse, we've lost the sympathy and cooperation we had, no matter how small that used to be. The only way to tackle this issue in a sustainable and efficient way is to go to the source ... ... the local governments, and potential migrants, need addressing so ways can be found to make the issue unprofitable for the gangs. Spending the amounts we do now would make a massive difference imo. Waiting for migrants to arrive, then trying to sort the mess out, clearly doesn't work.
I'm obviously exaggerating now but, bear with me. What would be the effect on A) Potential migrants and B) Trafficking gangs if we announced a series of 'travel packages'. In my opinion it would stop everything in it's tracks. As we rarely send anyone home we may as well process people where they are now. That would save millions on detention camps, hotels, barges, the cost of feeding people, etc etc etc. Give visas and transport to tradesmen, doctors, nurses, hospitality staff, and anyone else who could do a useful job here and earn their own money. And if they were prepared to give the gangs £10,000 say we'll do it for half and a 707 instead of the back of a lorry and a leaky dinghy
