The latest game between South Africa & Australia is heading towards an interesting conclusion after Pat Cummins showed serious promise on his debut with 6-79. Both teams have actually bottled decent positions in the game; both teams collapsing to inadequate totals, but this has led to a fascinating final day, where either team could still win. This game, and the game before have shown the beauty of test cricket as a format. This brings into focus though that the cricket boards of these respective countries have cheapened test cricket. To schedule a series of just 2 test matches is pathetic, gives all the wrong signals and is a potential contributor to its downfall, especially given the cut and thrust of the games we've seen so far.
Good point duckmachine but is it entirely the fault of the boards or do the ICC carry some responsibility now tours have to fit in Tests, 1 Dayers and 20/20 fixtures. The ICC should ensure that Test Cricket remains the ultimate contest but with the BCCI's financial clout they are dictating what the ICC should promote.
