Dont want to put a damper on things after such a reportedly great display and a well earned win (will watch the game on TP and am looking forward to it). But was looking at the table to see what difference Leicesters win made (seems the scoreline flattered) and noticed in the for column that you have to go to the 22nd placed team (Bristol City) to see a team that had score equal or less than we have. Clearly we need to improve in this department (stating the obvious) if we are to maintain our top six place and will not be vying for the number 1 or 2 position (which based upon the way we are playing except for the final finish is a distinct possibility) if we don't. I have been impressed with McClean in terms of his work rate and some of the balls he has played to others (some lovely flicks and back heels) but he needs to step up to the plate and put some of those chances away. Heres hoping he does it.
I don't think anyone will disagree with you that we need more goals but Im hoping, as well us continuing to win games, the teams near the top will start to pull apart a bit by the time Christmas is over. With us at least in the top 6 of course. Some of the games we've got coming up should do that one way or the other really.
I take our goals for as a positive. NP built from the back and made us a miserly defensive unit. He seemed to be working toward improving the attack. It makes replacing defensive NP with attacking NB all the better timed. Next phase, goals. ONWARDS.
You don't need to score many goals if you don't concede many. I'm quite happy with grinding out scrappy 1-0 wins. Barmby will be a lot more attack focused than NP was anyway so the goals are only going to start flowing soon. Especially with Stewart back and fit.
