Leeds United youngster Finley Gorman, 15, is set to join Manchester City. A seven-figure fee – believed to be a British record for a player of his age – has been agreed between the Championship club and the Premier League champions. A deal is not yet completely done but the expectation on all sides is that Gorman will move to the Etihad. An attacking midfielder, Gorman made his England Under-16s debut earlier this season when he was still 14-years-old. He also holds the record of being the youngest player to score twice in a Premier League Under-18 fixture, at 14 years and 326 days. Videos of Gorman in action for Leeds’ junior teams have gone viral on social media in recent months with him seen as one of the club’s most highly-rated prospects. Gorman is still on schoolboy terms with Leeds and won’t be eligible for a first professional contract until he turns 17 in September 2025.
Superstar or bench warmer it's in the lap of the gods, but the parents will have to make do with a mansion in rural Cheshire as a consolation
It’s the disgusting side of football. Why are we bothering with a youth system at all. If they turn out to be any good best we can hope For is a season or two Out of them regardless what division were in
Blame social media and mobile phones mate. Role the clock back a few years when a Nokia 3310 or 3330 was the phone to have and before we were all plugged into social media these big clubs wouldn’t have been able to have footage handed on a plate Edit** Just googled when that was expecting early 90s the 3310 came out in the year 2000 and Facebook launched 2004 not as far back as I thought
In fairness we did the same to Wigan with Joffy amongst others, that’s just how football works. What I would say is I’m surprised he hasn’t looked at Archie and see that the route to first team football has to be better here.
Because he’ll go to Man City and get paid a lot more money and get loaned out. That’s his route to first team football and millionaire status by the time he’s eighteen. And you’re right, we did the same to Wigan as Man City are doing to us. It’s the law of the jungle.
