    This.

We are offering all our key new signings and young players long terms contracts/extensions so we should increasingly have longer and longer gaps between the must sell instances we had with Enrique, where they are in the last year of their contract. In addition because of the great strides taken to bring the expenses down in line with our operating income it means we don't actually have to sell a player to balance the books, hence his comment stating we don't have to sell anymore.

Reading between the lines it seems to me he is saying to clubs sniffing round our players that they had better work out a realistic market valuation and double it or they haven't got a chance. I like this sort of talk and am seeing it as a positive statement from the club.

Considering the transfer isn't open for over a month why are they even bothering with these stories, someone has probably put the question "Would you consider selling Tiote?" and Pardew has responded with "yes for the right price" Which will be silly money since he signed a 6 year contract not that long ago.

Tiote has also said he has no interest in going to london cause he doesn't like it.

Typical Red top paper spinning lines to make healines.

The end of the day, every player has their price. Just some are more over the top than others.

Don't be silly, when did Chelsea offer sturridge to Spurs?

Also considering Sturridge has been one of Chelsea's best players this season, and is still only 20 years old and in my opinion worth quite a bit more than Tiote in the first place, i hardly see Newcastle getting sturridge.

  4. Pardew said in the paper that other teams would have to pay silly money for our players. 20m isn't silly money. 35m would be silly money but that's the least we should accept as Tiote will be difficult to replace.

Cant remember when, but it was reported they had offered Sturridge when it became apparent they werent interested in just a high fee.

That's why I would demand him in negotiations. We'd never get him and hopefully they would then drop their interest.

Don't care how much we sell him for because we won't see any of it.

    He must stay

Think those quotes are largely positive more than anything.... I think whatever our manager says some will always read negatively into it (in the same way that I tend to always look positively and look a fool!). Looks like Pardew has just come out and said that if anyone's interested in our big players then think of a price, double it and then you're part way there.

As has been mentioned we're a lot more stable financially now compared to even 12 months ago so, on paper, we don't have the need to sell players. Add that to the long contracts that our players are signing which implies to me that they're happy to be here for the long run as well.

Nothing really surprising. Most clubs outside the CL clubs couldn't turn down a massive offer for any of their players. We're no different.

No way, I'd want at least 100mill plus Sturridge, Mata, Lukaku, Romeu and the severed head of Jeremy Kyle (I hear Roman knows people...), before we even discuss terms.

I don't think anyone should be surprised by this stance.

It's clear that if big offers come in we will sell.

A couple of ways of looking at it are that we'll never achieve anything if we're forever changing the players, or that the sooner Mike Ashley makes his money back he'll sell up.

Basically confirming what we already knew, not really shocked by this. We knew we would hopefully get 2 players in Jan, and if anyone comes in with a crazy offer like Carroll then go ahead, it worked last time didn't it?

Its basically sending a message to the teams with money that ANY player is available at a high price.

Regardless of whether we do good business or not we wont get anywhere at all if we keep selling our best players and disrupting the team.

Expect no trophies for at least another 20 years.
